That follows in line with initial reports on Cook's status. It sounds like Minnesota expects Cook to be available for Week 4, but we'll have to track his status through the practice week.
Pro Football Talk hears that the "current expectation" is for Vikings RB Dalvin Cook to wear a brace on his injured left shoulder and play vs. the Saints in London next week. We wouldn't go locking Cook into Week 4 fantasy lineups just yet but will track Cook's status throughout this coming week. RB Alexander Mattison should be owned in all fantasy leagues in case Cook misses further time.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (thumb) was out on the practice field Thursday "gripping and throwing a training ball," according to insider Michael Gehlken. Prescott isn't taking snaps or throwing yet, but he's clearly progressing well from surgery to repair his fractured right thumb. Prescott has not been placed on IR, and the Cowboys reportedly believe he could return for Week 4 or 5. We're skeptical but will continue to keep a close eye on his status.
RB Dalvin Cook amassed just 17 yards on 6 carries as the Vikings got whipped by the Eagles on Monday night. Cook was matched in rushing yards by WR Jalen Reagor's lone carry and beaten by QB Kirk Cousins' 2 rushes for 20 yards. Cook added 4-19 receiving on 6 targets, on a night where Minnesota could get nothing going. RB Alexander Mattison contributed 8 yards on 2 carries and 3 catches for 6 yards on 5 targets.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirms that 49ers QB Trey Lance will miss the rest of the 2022 season after undergoing ankle surgery on Monday morning. Lance suffered a fractured and dislocated ankle, Pelissero reports. It's similar although slightly less severe than the injury Cowboys QB Dak Prescott suffered in October 2020. Prescott was fully cleared for the start of training the following summer and played Week 1, but it's worth remember that he set a career-low in rushing yards per game in 2021. We'll monitor Lance's rehab and hope he quickly regains his mobility.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports 49ers QB Trey Lance suffered a "significant" right ankle injury in the Week 2 win over the Seahawks. Lance is expected to need surgery that will "likely" end his season. You can hang on to him on fantasy rosters until we get official confirmation that Lance's season is over, which figures to come tomorrow. San Francisco will turn back to QB Jimmy Garoppolo, which will mean a significant shift in the offense. The 49ers' pass rate will climb, and there will be more carries to go around since Garoppolo won't be taking many.

Earlier reports had Prescott's timeline at 6-8 weeks. The short end of this new timetable would have Prescott back for Week 6's game vs. the Eagles; the long end Week 8 vs. the Bears. Dallas does have a Week 9 bye, so it still wouldn't be a surprise to see Prescott held out until Week 10. We'll continue to monitor his rehab.

Cowboys S Jayron Kearse sprained his left MCL in Sunday night's loss to the Buccaneers. Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports that the team expects him to miss 2-4 games. That will put Donovan Wilson into the starting lineup while Kearse is out. Wilson supplied 5 tackles, 1 QB hit and an INT against Tampa Bay and has delivered starter-level fantasy numbers in the past (before Kearse claimed his gig).
WR CeeDee Lamb, TE Dalton Schultz and WR Noah Brown easily led Cowboys pass-catchers in playing time in Sunday night's loss to the Buccaneers. Schultz played the most snaps of any offensive skill players for the game (100%). Lamb trailed him by just 2 snaps while leading the team in routes (97.8%). Brown played just 7 fewer snaps than Lamb and trailed him by a mere 6 routes. Dennis Houston checked in 3rd among Dallas WRs at 40 snaps (58%) and 30 routes run (65.2%). Of course, the whole offense will be challenged to produce worthwhile fantasy numbers while Dak Prescott is out.

He's reportedly eyeing a return on either Oct. 30 vs. the Bears or Nov. 13 vs. the Packers. Dallas' bye falls in between those 2 games, which could factor into Prescott's return. Texans WR Brandin Cooks drew 12 targets in Sunday's season opener, accounting for 32.4% of QB Davis Mills' total pass attempts. He caught 7 of those for 82 yards, including a 42-yarder. RB Rex Burkhead was the only other Texan to see more than 3 targets in the game. Chris Moore and Nico Collins tied for 2nd among wideouts with 3 apiece. Collins ran much closer to Cooks in usage, though, running a route on 78% of Mills' dropbacks. Cooks hit 92.7%, with Moore well behind at 51.2%. Cooks looks like the only usable Houston passing-game piece right now, but there's room for Collins to work his way into deeper-league contention.

Prescott is meeting with a hand specialist on Monday, but the expectation is that he'll need a pin and plate inserted to stabilize his fractured joint. The short end of that 6-8 week timetable would have Prescott back for Week 8. But Dallas has a Week 9 bye, so Week 10 might be the most likely return date for Dak. His absence is obviously a big blow to all of the Cowboys' skill-position players. Prescott is cuttable in fantasy leagues without an IR spot.

Niners QB Trey Lance completed just 13 of 28 passes for 164 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT in Sunday's rain-soaked loss at Chicago. He added 54 yards on 13 rushes, leading the team in both categories. The day presented tough weather conditions, but we can't shrug off the performance entirely. Week 2 should bring a friendlier setup: a home date with Seattle.
