Bills WR Gabriel Davis (ankle) is not expected to play vs. the Titans tonight, "barring a surprise," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "Team has held out hope but playing was considered an uphill battle since Saturday's injury," Fowler tweets. We'll see if Davis can make it back for this coming Sunday's game vs. the Dolphins. His absence figures to mean WR Khalil Shakir's debut, although the rookie is really only an option in DFS. Stefon Diggs, Isaiah McKenzie, Jamison and Dawson Knox are candidates for extra targets with Davis out.
Bills WR Gabe Davis sat out Wednesday's practice, but Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 reports it's just "general soreness" and that the team considers Davis day-to-day. This doesn't look like anything more than a rest day, but we'll keep watch.
Bills WR Gabe Davis suffered a high ankle sprain in practice ahead of the team's Week 2 game last season. He missed only that contest, but the injury likely impacted much more of his season. The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia reports that Davis "felt like he 'lost a step' ... and that impacted his whole year." The report adds that Davis "feels fully back to normal and healthy now." Even with that issue, Davis finished 35th among PPR WRs last season. That's higher than his WR41 ADP so far this year. We like the fourth-year wideout as a best ball value. Check out his standing in our 2023 WR rankings.
Bills WR Gabe Davis is looking to rebound from an injury-marred 2022. He suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 2, returning after just one absence. According to GM Brandon Beane, Davis struggled to shake the pain. “Not to make excuses, but it definitely bothered him,” Beane said at the NFL Combine. "You can just watch the film when he was coming out of his cuts, he was taking an extra step which allowed that defender to stay attached to him as well." Davis’ boom-or-bust label likely sticks following the addition of rookie TE Dalton Kincaid. We at least saw flashes of the good last year with a pair of top-12 fantasy finishes. Most impressive: Davis’ 3-171-2 line vs. Pittsburgh in Week 5. See where he slots in our PPR WR rankings.
Bills QB Josh Allen wants to get WR Gabriel Davis in more "catch-and-run" situations this season. Davis was used largely as a deep threat last year, with 29.2% of his targets coming 20+ yards downfield -- the 9th highest rate among 74 qualifiers. His 2.7 yards after the catch per reception ranked 70th. That's likely somewhat a function of Davis' skill set -- but at least partly due to how the Bills deployed him. More catch-and-run opportunities certainly wouldn't hurt his fantasy value. Davis is coming cheaper in fantasy drafts this year than last, with an FFPC best-ball ADP currently sitting in Round 9.
Bills WR Gabe Davis tallied 6 grabs for 93 yards and 1 score in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota. He connected with Josh Allen on a nice back-shoulder end zone ball. Later, he had a (non) catch stand, as the refs surprisingly didn’t blow the play dead for a look under 2 minutes. Call it close to a best case outcome for Davis, especially with Allen coming off the elbow issue. He’ll remain a boom or bust option this week against Cleveland.
