Colts RB Deon Jackson was knocked out of Sunday's win over the Jaguars with a quad injury. He racked up 42 yards and a score on the ground plus 10 catches for 79 yards before exiting. Jackson's absence left Phillip Lindsay as Indianapolis' top RB. We'll see if Jackson, Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines are available for Week 7
The Colts have released RB Deon Jackson, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. RB Trey Sermon was elevated from the practice squad in a corresponding move, so he'll fill a back up role behind Zack Moss.
Colts RB Deon Jackson tallied 19 opportunities (13 carries, six targets) in Sunday's opener vs. the Jaguars. He turned them into 28 scoreless yards. Jackson mustered just 14 yards on 13 carries and caught five of six targets for 14 yards. He didn't get much help from the Colts' offensive line, but Jackson is simply a replacement-level talent. Indianapolis lost RB Evan Hull to a knee injury in this one, so we'll see if he or RB Zack Moss (forearm) is available for Week 2. Even if they're not, Jackson would be an unexciting RB3 vs. the Texans.
Colts RB Deon Jackson is in line to start the season opener vs. the Jaguars, according to insider Aaron Wilson. RB Jonathan Taylor is out for at least the first four games of the season. And RB Zack Moss isn't expected back from his broken arm until Week 2 or 3, per Wilson. That leaves Indianapolis' backfield to Jackson and rookie Evan Hull, barring another addition. Hull is the more exciting player, but it sounds like the Colts will favor Jackson's experience in the opener. We're still expecting this to be a committee attack, leaving Jackson as an unexciting fantasy play.
Colts RB Deon Jackson missed Thursday's practice with a quad injury and is expected to sit out Saturday's preseason opener against the Bills, according to the team website. Indy, of course, was already without RB Zack Moss (wrist) and RB Jonathan Taylor (feelings, ankle?). That leaves recent signee Kenyan Drake and fifth-round rookie Evan Hull as the top healthy competitors for playing time. We'll see how long Jackson remains out. Taylor has been the only Colts back in draftable range in our RB rankings, but he has fallen during his training-camp absence. It's a tough situation to buy into at all in current fantasy football drafts. Indy also signed RB Jason Huntley this week.
Colts RB Deon Jackson gained just 23 yards on 11 carries in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, starting in place of injured RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle). Jackson added 2 receptions for 13 yards on 3 targets. RB Jordan Wilkins followed Jackson with 13 yards on 3 carries but beat him in targets (5), catches (4) and receiving yards (15). RB Phillip Lindsay ran for 2 yards on his lone carry and watched his lone target fall incomplete. We'll see if Taylor can make it back for next Sunday's visit to Las Vegas.
