Cooks has not returned to team headquarters this week, while expressing disappointment over not being traded. Mike Garafolo reports that Cooks and the team will "continue to talk and try for a reset." We'll see where this situation goes, but Cooks' only option besides returning is to sit out in violation of his contract. We wouldn't drop Cooks from fantasy football rosters just yet if you can help it.

Schefter notes that Cooks is due $18 million fully guaranteed next season, so that contract might need to be restructured for a deal to get done.

Texans WR Brandin Cooks saw just 6 targets and caught 4 balls for 20 yards in Sunday's win over the Texans. The 6 looks did constitute 25% of Davis Mills' 24 attempts for the game. Cooks' biggest issue was Houston going run heavy (31 rushing attempts vs. 25 dropbacks). WR Nico Collins matched Cooks in targets and receptions, gaining 65 yards on his 4 catches. A Week 6 bye will be followed by a visit to the Raiders and then a home date with the Titans.

Collins ran much closer to Cooks in usage, though, running a route on 78% of Mills' dropbacks. Cooks hit 92.7%, with Moore well behind at 51.2%. Cooks looks like the only usable Houston passing-game piece right now, but there's room for Collins to work his way into deeper-league contention.

The Texans have agreed to a 2-year extension with WR Brandin Cooks. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Houston will pay Cooks just less than $20 million per season through 2024. Clearly, this means he's not going anywhere in trade (at least this offseason). Cooks finished 21st among PPR wideouts last season and is going much lower than that in early 2022 fantasy football drafts.

The Texans fired HC David Culley and OC Tim Kelly. These guys were set up to fail with an expansion-level roster and might have actually overachieved by winning 4 games this season. GM Nick Caserio is expected to tap into the Patriots pipeline for his next HC.
