Browns QB Robert Griffin (shoulder) is "on pace" to return this season, VP Sashi Brown said. RG3 is eligible to be activated from the IR at any time now. ESPN's Josina Anderson reports that he could return to practice as early as this week. Brown wouldn't say, though, whether the team will stick with QB Cody Kessler the rest of the way or give Griffin another shot. “First we’ve got to get him healthy,” he said of RG3. “He’s in the process of going back to the docs. He looks like he’s on pace to be able to come back later this year. Cody also is playing well, so we want to give Hue the opportunity to make that decision at the time we know Robert’s an option. Until then, we’re happy with and will look to Cody to continue to push forward.” Griffin is only worth a grab-and-stash in deep 2-QB leagues.
Ravens backup QB Robert Griffin III sustained a hairline fracture in his right (throwing) thumb Saturday. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Griffin's expected to miss the entire preseason but return for Week 1. The situation obviously has almost no fantasy impact, unless you play preseason DFS.
The Ravens have signed QB Robert Griffin III, according to multiple reports. Griffin's obviously not a challenge to moribund-yet-deeply entrenched starter Joe Flacco. But it's noteworthy that Baltimore picked up RG3 while Ryan Mallett remains on the open market. Mallett backed up Flacco the past 2 seasons after arriving mid-2015. He started 2 games that year and appeared in 6 total (no starts) over the past 2 seasons. It might surprise a lot of folks that Griffin only just turned 28 in February. He obviously has plenty to prove, though, before we can consider him even a dynasty bench candidate at this point -- especially with the Ravens' lackluster pass-catching corps.
The Browns have released QB Robert Griffin, saving nearly $7 million against the 2017 salary cap. RG3 didn't even make it through a game last year before breaking his left shoulder. He returned for the final 4 games but totaled just 696 passing yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Since his impressive 2012 rookie campaign, Griffin has thrown 22 TDs vs. 21 INTs. He'll need to settle for a backup gig on the open market.
Browns QB Robert Griffin (concussion) will start Sunday’s finale against the Steelers. He’s still looking for his 1st passing TD of the season and could get it against a Pittsburgh team with nothing to play for. RG3 remains just a QB2 flier.
Browns QB Robert Griffin has passed through the concussion protocol and will practice on Thursday, according to ESPN's Tony Grossi. HC Hue Jackson suggested earlier this week that he still believes RG3 might be the team's answer at QB, so we'd expect him to get the nod in Sunday's finale against the Steelers.
