Eagles waive Johnson

The Eagles waived RB Kerryon Johnson. The former Lion recently suffered a knee injury that's believed to be a sprain. For now, Philly will move forward with Boston Scott, Kenneth Gainwell and Jordan Howard behind Miles Sanders.

The 49ers promoted RB Kerryon Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster. He's now eligible to play against the Packers on Sunday night. Johnson joined the team 2 weeks ago. We'll see how big a role he plays in Week 3 -- if he plays at all. But he shouldn't be in fantasy lineups. San Francisco placed RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle) on IR in a corresponding roster move.

He averaged 3.6 and then 3.5 yards per carry for the Lions in 2019 and 2020 -- and was cut by the Eagles this summer. There's obviously opportunity in San Francisco after RB Raheem Mostert's season-ending knee injury, but we wouldn't bet on Johnson capitalizing on it. He's only worth stashing in deep fantasy leagues.
