Eagles WR DeVonta Smith led the team in targets (12), receptions (8) and receiving yards (169) in Sunday's win over the Commanders. He grabbed 1 of Jalen Hurts' 3 TD passes, leaving 1 apiece for WR A.J. Brown and TE Dallas Goedert. Brown checked in 2nd in the other 3 categories, tallying a 5-85-1 receiving line on 10 targets. Goedert managed just 3-26-1 on 4 looks in a game he left briefly with a shin issue. Smith looks like he'll reside much closer to Brown in target share than the opener in Detroit suggested.

Eagles WR A.J. Brown still led the team in targets in Week 2, but his 8 looks merely beat WR DeVonta Smith by 1 and TE Dallas Goedert by 2. Brown caught 5 balls for 69 yards in the easy win over Minnesota. Smith caught all 7 of his targets for 80 yards, while Goedert supplied 5 receptions for a team-high 82 yards. QB Jalen Hurts spread his other 10 pass attempts among 5 teammates. WR Quez Watkins caught the night's only TD pass, a 53-yarder that was 1 of his 2 receptions on 2 targets. Brown's share marked a predictable fall from the heights of Week 1, but he still garnered 25.8% target share vs. Minnesota.

If the opener laid out Philly's passing plan, then WR A.J. Brown will not have any target-volume issues. Instead, he'll be a big problem for his teammates. Brown claimed 13 targets among QB Jalen Hurts' 32 pass attempts in Sunday's win over the Lions, a 40.6% share. That's certainly not a rate we'd bet on continuing. But Brown could lose a quarter of that share and still rank among the league leaders in the category. He caught 10 balls for 155 yards, factoring in at all levels of the passing game. No other Eagle drew more than 4 targets, with TE Dallas Goedert, WR DeVonta Smith and RB Kenneth Gainwell tying for 2nd place. Goedert managed 3 catches for 60 yards. Smith didn't catch a pass. Brown will obviously remain a weekly starter for any fantasy team that drafted him. Goedert looks fine to continue using, as we'd expect at least a slight bump from his Week 1 target share of 12.5%. Smith would be better to bench at least until we see this passing picture develop a little further. Smith did, at least, play 6 more snaps than Brown and run 1 more route vs. Detroit.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith returned to practice on Sunday. He ended up missing about 10 days with a minor groin injury. Barring a setback, consider Smith's fantasy stock unaffected.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith has missed 5 consecutive practices with a groin injury. Per HC Nick Sirianni, the 2nd-year WR remains day to day.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith is sitting out practice with a minor groin injury. HC Nick Sirianni said the team is just bring cautious with the 2nd-year pro, so there’s no cause for concern. We’ll let you know when he’s back to practicing.

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni called WR DeVonta Smith “a number 1 WR” on Thursday. No surprise there, as Philadelphia just took Smith 10th overall. Sirianni praised Smith’s hands, competitiveness and ability to win 1 on 1s. While his 2021 usage proved inconsistent, Smith ultimately finished with a promising 103-64-916-5 line in 17 games. He's coming off the board as a high-end WR3 in early 2022 fantasy drafts.

The Washington at Philadelphia game originally scheduled for Sunday has been moved to Tuesday at 7 pm ET due to The Football Team's COVID outbreak, insider Albert Breer reports. This game won't be on the DFS main slate but will still count for Week 15 in season-long leagues. We'll see if any of Washington's players currently on the COVID list are activated by Tuesday. The extra 2 days can't hurt Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who is recovering from what's been reported as a high-ankle sprain. Washington WR Terry McLaurin and RB J.D. McKissic will have a better chance to clear concussion protocol before kickoff.

The Eagles released WR Travis Fulgham. It's not a major surprise if you've been paying attention to preseason usage. DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor and Quez Watkins will open the season as Philly's top 3 WRs.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (knee) was back on the practice field on Monday. Beat writers noted that he only went through individual drills, so he still seems limited. But the rookie is clearly on track to be fine for Week 1 and still has a good chance to open the season as Philly's #1 WR.

The Eagles have upgraded WR DeVonta Smith from "week to week" to "day to day" on their injury report, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Smith was reportedly running sprints on a side field with a trainer, helmet on, during the team's Saturday practice. It sounds like he's close to returning from his knee sprain -- with nearly a month still to go before the regular-season opener. Now looks like a good time to take some shots at a lower-priced Smith in fantasy football drafts.

Reports out of Eagles training camp have been up and down on 2nd-year QB Jalen Hurts. But ESPN's Tim McManus says the new starter has looked particularly good in 1 key area. "Hurts has been money on throwing the deep balls," McManus writes. "He has shown a knack for hitting his receivers in stride with touch, even from 40-plus yards out." According to McManus, Hurts also tied Tom Brady, Derek Carr and Deshaun Watson for most completions of 30+ yards from Week 13 on last season -- Hurts' starting stretch. The young QB has reportedly struggled more in the short and intermediate ranges. We can work with that combo in fantasy. Hurts' strong deep passing plus the speed of his top 2 WRs -- DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor -- only adds upside to a QB whose most attractive in fantasy for his rushing ability. Deshaun Watson rumors have knocked Hurts down some ADP boards recently, which could be a buying opportunity on a risk-reward fantasy QB.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith is expected to be out 2-3 weeks with a sprained MCL, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Even the long end of that timetable would have Smith back well before the start of the regular season. But the rookie will miss valuable training camp reps and seems unlikely to play in the preseason. That could mean that he gets off to a slow start this year. We'll see how he fares when he gets back on the field.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith is "week to week" with a knee sprain, according to ESPN's Tim McManus. Smith sustained the injury in Sunday's practice but reportedly stayed on the field. An MRI later diagnosed a sprain. We'll see exactly how long Smith remains out, but any missed time can't be good for a rookie wideout and a QB (Jalen Hurts) heading into his 1st full starting season. Smith could become a value if this knocks his ADP down the board. He presents risk around the bottom of WR3 territory for now, though, while his absence leaves target opportunity for others.

The Eagles traded up from #12 to #10 to select Alabama WR DeVonta Smith. You know the concern with Smith: He weighed in at 170 pounds at Alabama’s Pro Day and 166 at the medical recheck in Indianapolis. That puts him in a bucket that hasn’t produced many high-end fantasy assets. DeSean Jackson is the only WR 175 pounds or lighter to top 1,000 yards over the past 10 seasons. But Smith is also 6’0 with a 78.5-inch wingspan that lands him in the 72nd percentile among NFL WRs. So he’s skinny, but not small. And he puts big check marks in the production and tape boxes. Smith is coming off a Heisman-winning 2020 campaign that saw him post a silly 117-1856-23 line. Those yardage and TD totals both rank top 6 in NCAA history. Smith’s 2019 junior season was just as impressive. The raw numbers weren’t as big: 68 catches for 1,256 yards and 14 TDs. But they came alongside a pair of 2020 1st-round picks in Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs, plus a healthy Jaylen Waddle. Smith led that stacked squad in yards and TDs, ranking 2nd to Jeudy in catches. The tape shows a combination of ankle-breaking releases, silky smooth routes and uncanny ball skills. Smith wins at all levels of the field and is much better in contested situations than you’d expect from a man of his size. While the weight adds risk to his NFL projection, Smith is a guy we’re not gonna bet against. He’s simply good at football. The Eagles have now gone WR in the 1st round in 2 straight drafts after going with Jalen Reagor at #21 last year. Those guys should be the team’s top 2 WRs going forward.
