Giants RB Saquon Barkley recorded 17 carries for 63 rushing yards and 6 catches for 29 receiving yards in Week 2 vs. the Cardinals, finding the end zone twice. He appeared to sustain a foot injury late in the fourth quarter of the contest and didn't come back into action. According to a report from Pro Football Talk, he was taken on a medical cart to receive X-rays following the game. It'll be essential to follow along with practice reports in the coming days to get an idea of Barkley's availability for Week 3 vs. the 49ers. Considering their next game is on Thursday, it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss time.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley got rolled up on late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. He was helped off the field, putting no weight on his right leg. We'll update his status when we learn more.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley recorded 12 carries for 51 rushing yards and 3 catches for 12 receiving yards in Week 1’s loss vs. the Cowboys. This was an ugly game for New York from the jump, and the contest got out of hand quickly. All things considered, Barkley’s efforts are perhaps the lone bright spot from the divisional blowout. The veteran also unsurprisingly received 80% of the backfield carries, so fantasy managers can rest easy knowing that Week 2 vs. the Cardinals should bring brighter days.

SNY TV's Connor Hughes notes that there's been a concerted effort to get Giants RB Saquon Barkley more involved in the passing game in camp. "Not just as a check-down guy (think Le'Veon Bell in Pittsburgh), either, but wideout-light," Hughes adds. "The Giants have motioned Barkley out in the slot or split wide, then gotten him the ball, multiple times this summer." Even in his strong 2022 campaign, Barkley's receiving production felt a tad underwhelming. He caught 57 balls but averaged a career-low 5.9 yards per catch with 0 TDs. There's lots of room for those marks to grow in 2023.

The Giants and RB Saquon Barkley have agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That total would beat the RB franchise tag by a little, and the two sides had passed the league deadline for a long-term contract. Most importantly for fantasy football managers, the agreement means Barkley will start training camp -- and, barring injury, the season -- on time. Uncertainty over his contract has pushed Barkley later in Round 2 in many recent drafts. He's a good pick anywhere in that round, across 1-QB formats. He can even make sense as a Round 1 consideration, according to our 12-team PPR fantasy football draft guide.

The Giants are signing RB James Robinson, insider Art Stapleton reports. Robinson opened last season as Jacksonville's lead back but quickly fell behind Travis Etienne and was traded to the Jets in October. He carried just 29 times for New York and was a healthy scratch for multiple games. Robinson joins Matt Breida, Gary Brightwell, and rookie Eric Gray behind the still-unsigned Saquon Barkley on the Giants' depth chart. We'll see how that backfield shakes out over the next month, but Robinson is no more than an end-of-draft fantasy flier.

The Giants and RB Saquon Barkley failed to agree to a long-term contract ahead of Monday's 4 pm ET deadline for franchise-tagged players. That means Barkley is set to play out 2023 on a 1-year, $10.1 million deal. It remains unclear when he'll report to the team, though. Barkley can't be fined for skipping training camp since he's not officially under contract. "Barkley is not expected to report to training camp with the rest of his team," ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Monday. "The Giants are not expected to see Barkley until later this summer, if then. Barkley will have decisions to make as to when he is willing to report." ESPN's Dianna Russini said last week that Barkley's status for the start of the season would be "in serious question" absent a long-term deal. We'll keep you updated on the situation. Barkley comes with elevated risk in fantasy drafts until he reports to the team.

ESPN's Dianna Russini hears that Giants RB Saquon Barkley's availability for the start of the season is "in serious question" if he doesn't get a long-term deal from the Giants. Barkley was slapped with the franchise tag earlier this offseason, and the two sides "remain at a stalemate," per Russini. The deadline to sign a long-term deal is July 17 at 4 pm ET. We'll see where this goes over the next few days and if Barkley reports to the team absent a long-term deal. We've seen him drop to the back half of Round 2 in recent drafts. He's worth the risk at that point.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley confirmed Sunday that he won't attend the team's mandatory minicamp this week. That won't subject Barkley to any team discipline because he's not currently under contract. He has not signed his franchise tender. Barkley said: "I'm not demanding to be the highest-paid player at my position. I understand the market. I've been in talks with the Giants throughout the offseason. If at some point there's a deal that is fair to both sides on the table, I'll be ready to sign." There's no reason to believe at this stage that Barkley won't start the regular season on time. If you see him slide in best ball drafts on holdout fears, be ready to pounce. We'll see where the situation sits once training camp begins.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs won't report for the start of the team's voluntary offseason program on Monday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Jacobs has yet to sign his franchise tender, ultimately hoping for a longer-term deal. He's unlikely to get it, but at this point we don't expect a holdout into the summer. We'll keep an eye on the situation. Giants RB Saquon Barkley and Jaguars TE Evan Engram are also skipping voluntary workouts after getting franchise-tagged earlier this offseason.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley has no immediate plans to sign his franchise tag, making him ineligible to participate in the team's offseason program beginning next week, Newsday's Kim Jones reports. The Giants, meanwhile, are not interested in signing Barkley to a long-term deal, according to Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano. "There’s no real crisis until training camp begins and from what I hear no camp holdout is expected — at least not yet," Vacchiano adds. This will certainly be a situation to monitor into the summer. But, for now, we're not adjusting our 2023 fantasy outlook for Barkley. He's most likely to play out the 1-year deal with the Giants before hitting free agency next offseason.

The Athletic’s Dan Duggan believes RB Saquan Barkley will sign a long-term deal by the July 17 deadline. (The 26-year-old was franchise tagged in March.) New York offered him a long-term deal in-season, but it was reportedly low on guarantees. We’ll track contract negotiations right up to the deadline. Right now, Barkley remains a clear-cut top-8 dynasty RB.

The Giants are applying the franchise tag to RB Saquon Barkley. It's not yet clear whether it's the exclusive version, which would keep Barkley from being able to negotiate with other teams. But the tag effectively keeps him with the Giants. It's unlikely another franchise would give two first-round picks for the right to sign Barkley. Expect the star RB to stick with the team that allowed him to finish fifth at the position in PPR points per game this past season.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley recorded 9 carries for 61 yards and 2 catches for 21 yards in Saturday's Divisional Round loss vs. the Eagles. Though the Giants' season ended in a disappointing fashion, Barkley has a lot to be happy about entering free agency this offseason. The Pro Bowl back played in 16 games for the 1st time since his rookie season in 2018 and set a career-high in rushing yards (1,312) in 2022. The soon-to-be 26-year-old will be a dynamic fantasy asset regardless of what team he suits up for in 2023 and beyond. He said after Saturday's game that “everyone knows I want to be a Giant for life," taking away any potential mystery around his intentions. We'll see if his desire to return to New York comes to fruition in the coming weeks.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Giants held long-term contract talks with RB Saquon Barkley during the season. Per Rapoport, the team wants Barkley and Daniel Jones to return for 2023. (No surprise there.) The franchise tag remains likely to be used on 1 of those guys. Per Spotrac, New York currently has the 3rd most cap-space league-wide (~54$ million).

Giants RB Saquon Barkley totaled 9 carries for 53 yards and 2 TDs in Sunday's Wild Card win vs. the Giants. The savvy vet also caught 5 passes on 6 targets for 56 yards as a receiver in the contest. Fantasy managers who pegged the Giants as an upset victor with Barkley in their playoff lineups are feeling pretty good about themselves after this one. Up next for Barkley and the Giants is a showdown vs. an Eagles defense that ranks as the 13th-best matchup for RBs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley is a healthy scratch for today's game vs. the Eagles. QB Daniel Jones is active but isn't expected to play in this game that means nothing to New York.

Giants QB Davis Webb is expected to start Sunday's game vs. the Eagles, according to insider Ryan Dunleavy. It's confirmation that the Giants will be resting starters in a game that means nothing to them. Don't expect QB Daniel Jones or RB Saquon Barkley to play. WRs Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James also figure to be held out or limited.

The New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy reports that the Giants are expected to sit "key starters" in Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the Eagles. New York is locked into the NFC's #6 seed and has nothing to play for. We've been projecting QB Daniel Jones and RB Saquon Barkley to sit all week. Look for QB Tyrod Taylor to get the start and for RBs Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell to handle backfield duties. WRs Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James could also be held out or be pulled early in Sunday's game.
