Tyler Lockett Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

In a somewhat surprising move, free-agent WR Jermaine Kearse has agreed to a new 3-year deal to stay with the Seahawks, according to Adam Schefter. It was also Schefter who reported before free agency opened that Kearse wasn't expecting to remain in Seattle and was "looking forward" to joining a new team. A weak WR market seemed likely to elevate his status. We'll see what the money looks like, but the practical impact for fantasy owners is that Kearse will continue to siphon targets in a lower-volume pass offense. He'll be no more than a late-round flier behind at least WRs Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett. We'll see about TE Jimmy Graham's status come summer.

The forecast for today's Rams-Seahawks game calls for temperature in the upper 30s, a 70-85% chance of rain and 3 mph winds.  Unpleasant for the fans, but not enough to impact our projections for the game.  You're safe to stick with all pieces of Seattle's passing game.

Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett (hip) put in a full practice on Tuesday.  He'll play against the 49ers on Thursday night but isn't a fantasy option outside of return-yardage leagues.  The rookie was goose-egged last week and has topped 2 catches in just 1 of his last 5 games.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Monday that WR Tyler Lockett is dealing with a hip injury that has his Week 7 status uncertain, according to the Seattle Times. Lockett has yet to become a factor on offense, so his status won't impact most fantasy leagues. But you should have a replacement available if you've been using the rookie in return-yardage leagues.

Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell said Wednesday that WR Tyler Lockett will play a "big role" in the offense.  Seattle originally planned to use the rookie mostly on special teams this year, but he proved to be "light years" ahead of where they thought he'd be as a receiver, per Bevell.  Lockett was impressive in preseason action, hauling in 6 balls for 129 yards and TD (plus 2 return scores).  He figures to open the year as Seattle's #3 WR but could quickly move into the top 2.  Lockett is a recommended bench stash.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said WR Tyler Lockett looked "very special" in the preseason opener.  The rookie took a kickoff 103 yards to the house and also had a 46-yard kick return and an 18-yard punt return.  Lockett played 11 snaps on offense but didn't see a target.  He's reportedly been shining at WR in camp, though, and the kid clearly has dangerous open-field ability.  Lockett remains 1 of our favorite late-round fliers in fantasy drafts.

Seahawks rookie WR Tyler Lockett continues to show his new team that he's more than a return man. “We’ve all been impressed with his attention to detail and how he wants to get it right,” HC Pete Carroll said this week, per The Associated Press. “He’s an unbelievably quick, fast guy, very confident catcher, really good route runner. He’s doing great. We’re not going to hold him back, he’s going to push it for as much playing time as he can get at receiver and then we’re giving him a great shot to be returner in both kicks and punts.” Teammate WR Doug Baldwin also calls Lockett "a lot more polished" than Baldwin was as a rookie and says Lockett has enjoyed good chemistry with all the QBs. Stash this guy near the end of your fantasy football draft.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll singled out 2 spring standouts after the conclusion of last week's minicamp.  The 1st was Jimmy Graham -- no surprise there.  But the 2nd was rookie WR Tyler Lockett.  “It’s been really fun to learn about Tyler," Carroll said. “He’s got a lot of responsibilities. He’s going after this return job, he’s inside playing in the slot in the receiver position, and he’s been outside.  We’ve just thrown everything at him because he seems to be able to handle it. He studies really hard. You don’t really know until you get these guys how dedicated they will be, but he’s been an exciting addition to the team.”  Lockett is expected to serve as Seattle's primary return man this season after scoring 6 special teams TDs in 4 college seasons.  But he's also capable of pushing for a significant role on offense.  Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse head to training camp as the team's top 2 WRs, but neither guy is the type of talent that will prevent Lockett from winning playing time.  The rookie is just a late-round flier for now but could climb our WR rankings in August.

Two Seahawks writers for the Seattle Times called WR Tyler Lockett the "most impressive" player at the team's just completed rookie minicamp. That certainly doesn't surprise us for a couple of reasons: First, Seattle drafted only 1 player ahead of Lockett's early 3rd-round spot, and then chose 2 guards directly after the Lockett pick. But more importantly, we've liked Lockett from the start and fully expected him to impress in the pros. “Tyler looked so comfortable,” Carroll told the Times on Sunday. “He’s an adept football player, a very natural player. He has a terrific sense for releasing and getting off the line of scrimmage and space stuff and finding his way downfield against the zones and all. He caught the ball beautifully. He looked really fast.” He might not make it into the top 36 WRs when our 2015 fantasy football rankings come out, but don't be surprised if he turns into the Seahawks' top wideout as soon as this season.

The Seahawks selected WR Tyler Lockett in the 3rd round of the 2015 NFL Draft.  The Kansas St. product is 1 of our favorite prospects in this class and reminds us a bit of Steelers stud Antonio Brown.  Lockett's 5'10, 182-pound frame is really the only knock against him.  He's a crisp route runner with top-end quickness to create separation at the top of his routes.  And he's dangerous after the catch.  Lockett posted lines of 81-1,262-11 and 106-1,515-11 the past 2 seasons.  Seattle isn't an idea short-term landing spot because of their run-heavy offense.  But the Seahawks could shift toward a more pass-happy attack post-Marshawn Lynch.  And there's plenty of opportunity for Lockett to quickly earn a significant role.  He'll remain aggressively high in our post-draft dynasty rankings.
