Browns OLB Barkevious Mingo will have "minor" knee surgery and miss "at least a couple of weeks," according to Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. That might make it tough for the former top-10 pick to finally nail down a full starting role, especially given that rookie OLB Nate Orchard has pleased his new team. Mingo's getting harder to believe in even for dynasty IDP use. He registered just 7 total sacks over his 1st 2 seasons but is still signed through 2016, with a club option for 2017.
The Browns stayed at #6 and drafted LSU OLB Barkevious Mingo. The selection sure looks damning for Jabaal Sheard. The former 2nd-round pick became an OLB when Cleveland switched from a 4-3 scheme to 3-4 this offseason. Sheard has said he feels comfy with the change, but the new Browns regime would likely prefer that Mingo win the starting job. Free-agent addition Paul Kruger will lock down the other spot.
