Peterman heads to Buffalo | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

The Bills added QB Nathan Peterman in the 5th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. A broken hand and the emergence of Josh Dobbs crushed Peterman’s first 2 college seasons at Tennessee. He transferred to Pitt in 2015 and started the past 2 years, completing 61.1% of his passes with 47 TDs vs. 15 INTs. He ranked 8th in the nation in passing efficiency in 2016. Peterman is solid-but-unspectacular on tape, drawing Kirk Cousins comparisons from scouts and our own Matt Schauf. He’s also coming from a pro-style offense, which will help his transition to the next level. The Bills have been unwilling to commit to Tyrod Taylor as their long-term starter, so Peterman has a shot to get on the field sooner than later.

Recent Shark Bites

The Bills have released QB Nathan Peterman. The 2017 5th-rounder finishes his Buffalo career with a 52.3% completion rate, 3 TDs and 12 INTs in 8 appearances. His 9.2% INT rate is the 8th worst among 444 QBs who have attempted 100+ passes since the 1970 merger. For his sake, we hope Peterman never plays another down in the NFL.

The Bills are expected to be forced to turn back to QB Nathan Peterman for Sunday's game against the Bears. QB Josh Allen has been ruled out with his elbow injury, while QB Derek Anderson is expected to miss Week 9 after sustaining a concussion in Monday night's loss to the Patriots. Peterman has thrown 4 INTs on just 32 attempts this season. He turns the Bears defense from a great fantasy play to an elite one.

Down 40-0 against the Ravens in the 3rd quarter, Buffalo has benched QB Nathan Peterman and inserted rookie Josh Allen. Peterman went 5 of 18 for just 24 yards and 2 INTs before leaving. We'll see what these means beyond Week 1. The Bills host the Chargers in Week 2.

The Bills have named QB Nathan Peterman the starter for Sunday's opener against the Ravens. That means we'll have to wait to see 1st-round pick Josh Allen in regular-season action. Peterman fared well in the preseason, completing 33 of 41 passes (80.5%) for 431 yards (10.5 yards per attempt) and 3 TDs vs. just 1 INT. Allen's obviously the long-term answer after Buffalo moved up to draft him, but delaying his debut is likely good for his development. If the Bills' decision here significantly impacts your fantasy football team, you just might be in for a rough year.

Bills QB Nathan Peterman sustained a concussion in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Colts. QB Joe Webb will finish out the game for Buffalo with QB Tyrod Taylor (knee) inactive.
