Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is expected to miss Sunday's opener against the Cowboys after having a procedure to fix an irregular heartbeat, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We don't have a timetable for his return, although Rapoport makes it sound like he won't be out long. Samuel is fighting for a role in Carolina's passing game and isn't worth a roster spot in redraft leagues right now.

Panthers HC Ron Rivera said WR Curtis Samuel's jump from year 2 to 3 "has been amazing." Samuel struggled with injuries for the first year-and-a-half of his NFL career. But over the final 6 weeks of last season, he tallied 22 catches, 315 yards and 2 scores, adding another 41 yards on 4 carries. Samuel ranked 31st among WRs in PPR points during that span. The former 2nd-rounder is capable of finishing at least that high in 2019.

After sitting out on Wednesday, Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring) put in a full practice on Thursday. He'll play against the Bucs this weekend, but his fantasy viability hinges on whether WR Devin Funchess returns.

Panthers WR Curtis Samuel missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury. It's the 1st we've heard of it, and it's possible this was more of a rest day. Check back tomorrow for an update on Samuel's status.

Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) is participating in this week's OTAs. (Here's video of him running a route.) A broken ankle and ligament damage ended Samuel's rookie season last November and required surgery. He had previously said that he was aiming to get back on the field for training camp, so he's seemingly ahead of schedule. The former 2nd-round pick remains an intriguing prospect but will be hard-up for targets this year alongside Devin Funchess, D.J. Moore, Greg Olsen and Christian McCaffrey.

Panthers HC Ron Rivera conceded on Tuesday that there's no timetable for WR Curtis Samuel's return to football activities. He's still rehabbing from a significant November ankle injury that required surgery. Samuel is running "a little bit," according to Rivera, but isn't doing any cutting. There's been nothing to suggest that he won't be ready for the start of the season, but any missed practice time is bad news for a guy who didn't do much as a rookie. Samuel isn't worth a look until the final few rounds of early best-ball drafts.
