Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) is expected back for next week's game against the Bucs, HC Kliff Kingsbury said Friday. Johnson should slide back in as Arizona's lead back -- although RB Kenyan Drake deserves to stay involved after his strong showing vs. the 49ers. We'll be looking for clues on how the Cards will deploy these guys in Week 10 and beyond.
Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury said that RB David Johnson rebounded well in practice this week from a bad Week 10. "I'm proud of his effort and his focus," Kingsbury said, according to the team website. "I like where his head is at." GM Steve Keim also said Friday during a radio interview about Johnson, "He's the only one who can get himself out of this hole." We'll be interested to see whether Johnson draws a larger share of the workload against San Francisco than he did in Week 10. Johnson hit halftime of that game with 3 carries to Kenyan Drake's 4, though also none of the team's 4 RB targets. Johnson carried just 2 more times and fumbled his only reception at the end of the 3rd quarter. He then didn't touch the ball in the 4th quarter. We're betting on Drake to keep leading the work in Week 11, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Drake "should receive the bulk of the carries and touches." Just keep in mind that this situation could still be fluid.
Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. He’ll return for Sunday’s game vs. Tampa Bay. The question is how much work he’ll cede to RB Kenyan Drake. It’s also a tough matchup against the league’s #2 RB defense. Consider Johnson more of a RB2 this week.
Cardinals RB David Johnson declared himself "100%" on Wednesday and said he's "definitely playing" against the Bucs this weekend. We'll keep an eye on his practice participation, but D.J. can be penciled into Week 10 fantasy lineups. We'll see exactly how much work RB Kenyan Drake earned with his impressive Week 9 showing, but Johnson should return as the lead back.
Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) is inactive for tonight’s game against the 49ers. RBs Kenyan Drake, Zach Zenner and Alfred Morris are all dressed. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler hears that Drake is “will get major run,” but we’d still consider him just a RB3 vs. San Francisco’s 2nd-ranked RB defense.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) is not expected to play against the 49ers tonight. He returned to a limited practice on Wednesday, so he seems to have a shot to return for Week 10. It'll be Kenyan Drake, Zach Zenner and Alfred Morris in Arizona's backfield tonight. Drake is the best fantasy bet of the bunch but is no more than a low-end RB3 vs. the Niners' 2nd-ranked RB defense.
