Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (hand) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. He seems safe to use as you normally would for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

Recent Shark Bites

ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes cleared "some big steps" in the concussion protocol on Monday. He still has a ways to go -- but Mahomes is expected to practice on Wednesday, and there's "hope and optimism" he'll be able to play vs. the Bills this weekend. Schefter adds that Mahomes is also dealing with a foot injury, which was clearly bothering him in Sunday's win over the Browns before he exited with the head injury.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sustained a concussion in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's Divisional Round win over the Browns. It's his 2nd documented concussion, with the 1st coming at Texas Tech back in 2014. Mahomes' progress through the protocol this coming week will be the biggest story in sports. If he's not cleared by Sunday, QB Chad Henne will get the start in the AFC Championship vs. the Bills.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid confirmed on Monday that "key starters" won't play in Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the Chargers. Kansas City has the AFC's #1 seed locked up. Don't expect to see QB Patrick Mahomes, WR Tyreek Hill or TE Travis Kelce on the field at all. WR Sammy Watkins and RB Le'Veon Bell also figure to be limited or sit out entirely. QB Chad Henne will draw the start for Kansas City. We'll look for clues on who the RB and WR snaps will go to.

The forecast for today's Chiefs-Broncos game calls for temperatures in the teens with a wind chill near zero. Winds will be around 10 mph, and 2-3 inches of snow are expected. The wind and snow aren't real concerns, but temperatures this low do tend to impact passing production. It's something to keep in mind, although Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce remain must-starts. Note that the over/under in this game has sunk from 48.5 to 44.

The Patriots-Chiefs game has been moved to 7:05 pm ET on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. (Falcons-Packers has been pushed back to 8:50 pm ET.) This is, of course, barring any more positive COVID tests from either team. Patrick Mahomes, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce should be in fantasy lineups. There are no must-start Patriots with QB Cam Newton out -- but guys like Julian Edelman, N'Keal Harry and the RBs are fine to get into lineups if they're your best options.
