Chiefs S Tyrann Mathieu is expected to play today against the Dolphins, despite being questionable with a hip issue, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mathieu sits low in our Week 14 DB rankings.
The Chiefs have reached a 3-year deal with S Tyrann Mathieu for $42 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. We'll see exactly how Mathieu fits into Kansas City's defense. He's capable of playing either safety spot and/or slot CB. Mathieu has proved capable of contributing worthwhile fantasy numbers in Arizona and Houston so far, though his scoring has relied on big plays. Mathieu looks like a lower-level DB2, but we'll see what K.C. reveals about his role.
The Cardinals have placed DB Tyrann Mathieu on IR. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury for weeks and made his way slowly back from last December's double-ligament tear early in the year. We'll keep an eye on Mathieu this offseason for signs that he might return to his old effectiveness level. We rarely saw that from him, so his absence doesn't alter an already-dim outlook for the Arizona team defense in fantasy football for Week 16.
The Cardinals have ruled DB Tyrann Mathieu out for Sunday's game at Miami, the 4the game he will have missed among the past 5. AZCentral.com reports that Mathieu and the team are considering surgery on the injured shoulder, though HC Bruce Arians said he doesn't believe it will be necessary. Mathieu has reportedly been improving and regaining his range of motion in the joint but obviously not enough yet to return to game action.
Cardinals DB Tyrann Mathieu (shoulder) is doubtful for Sunday's game against Washington, with the injury that already cost him a couple of games. His absence hurts the Arizona team D and helps the outlook for Washington slot WR Jamison Crowder -- who could also see his volume helped by TE Jordan Reed being out with a shoulder injury.
Cardinals DB Tyrann Mathieu (shoulder) is active for today's game against the Falcons after missing the past 2 contests. He's still a low-floor IDP option who has spent the season dealing with multiple issues.
