Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hip) is out for Saturday's game vs. the Bucs. WR Marvin Jones and TE T.J. Hockenson will continue to operate as the top 2 options in the passing game.
Giants WR Kenny Golladay is off to a slow start in training camp, according to The New York Daily News' Pat Leonard. "He’s tall, but he has struggled to gain separation from top corner James Bradberry in man-to-man coverage," Leonard writes. "He hasn’t used his size and hands to rip the ball down on contested catches. He has used his chest a bit too often when he has hauled the ball in, even in individual drills. And he and Daniel Jones haven’t clicked yet, even though they’re putting in a lot of extra work." We're just 3 days into Golladay's 1st camp with a new team, so it's far too early to start adjusting 2021 projections. But his progress over the next month is worth monitoring.
The Giants and WR Kenny Golladay agreed to a 4-year, $72 million deal with $40 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Golladay's market seemed cooler than expected, but he reportedly had the Giants and Bears hot for him. He ends up getting $18 million per season to become the league's 6th-highest-paid WR. Golladay gives the Giants a true alpha -- something that can't be said about WRs Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton. He immediately becomes the favorite to lead the team in targets, although OC Jason Garrett and QB Daniel Jones add risk to the landing spot.
The Lions don't plan on using their franchise tag on WR Kenny Golladay, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. So the 27-year-old will hit the free-agent market next week. Golladay's 2020 was wrecked by a hip injury, but he posted 70-1,063-5 and 65-1,190-11 lines in 2018 and 2019, ranking among the top 25 WRs in yards per route run both years. He figures to garner big money from his next team. The Lions' WR depth chart, meanwhile, now reads: Tyrell Williams, Quintez Cephus, Geronimo Allison. They'll certainly add to the position in free agency and/or the draft.
Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hip) is out for Sunday's finale vs. the Vikings. He'll hit free agency in March off a disappointing 5-game season. WR Marvin Jones, TE T.J. Hockenson and RB D'Andre Swift should be the top 3 options in Detroit's passing game this weekend.
Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hip) is out for this weekend’s game vs. the Titans. We’re not expecting to see him again this season. WR Marvin Jones and TE T.J. Hockenson will continue to serve as the top 2 options in Detroit’s passing game.
