The forecast for today's Chiefs-Raiders game calls for a 60% chance of rain with winds of 15-19 mph. "Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph," according to The Weather Channel. That wind is a much bigger concern than the rain. It'll impact both passing games, especially deeps balls. That's a bigger issue for Derek Carr than Alex Smith, who rarely goes deep anyway. We're nudging Carr and his WRs down the Week 6 Rankings.

The Chiefs and TE Travis Kelce have agreed to a 5-year, $46 million extension with $20.5 million guaranteed.  It makes him the 2nd-highest paid TE in the league, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  Kelce was a bit of a fantasy disappointment in 2015, finishing just 8th in PPR points.  He's still only 26, though.  Hopefully this new extension gets the Chiefs coaching staff to commit to getting Kelce the ball more.  He tied for 8th among TEs in targets this past year.

Winds of 23-28 mph are expected for today's Browns-Chiefs game.  That's certainly enough to impact the passing games, although neither team has much of a downfield attack.  Kansas City figures to go even more run-heavy than usual.  Downgrade WR Jeremy Maclin and TE Travis Kelce a tad, but both are still fine fantasy starters.  Browns TE Gary Barnidge remains a solid play.

The forecast for this afternoon's Chargers-Chiefs game calls for an 85% chance of rain with 10-14 mph winds.  This set up as a run-heavy, low-scoring game to begin with, and the weather will only add to that.  With WRs Stevie Johnson and Dontrelle Inman out and QB Philip Rivers playing with the flu, San Diego's passing game figures to struggle.  That'll only make it easier for the Chiefs to ride their running game.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Bills. We haven’t seen anything to suggest that the ankle will be a problem. Use Kelce as you normally would.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (ankle) is expected to play against the Bills today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  Kelce tweaked that ankle in practice Friday, but we never saw anything to suggest it was a significant concern.   If active, Kelce remains a rock-solid TE1.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Bills. HC Andy Reid said Kelce “tweaked” his ankle in Friday’s practice. We haven’t heard anything to suggest he’s in danger of missing the game, but it’s worth checking on his status Sunday morning.

10:33am EDT 10/25/15

Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (concussion) is inactive for today’s game against the Steelers. HC Andy Reid said he was fully cleared on Friday, so Maclin might have suffered a setback. We’ll look for an update on his status tonight or tomorrow. His absence leaves Albert Wilson and Chris Conley as Kansas City’s top 2 WRs. Both guys are just fantasy fliers. TE Travis Kelce should see a bunch of targets today.

Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (concussion) remained out of practice on Thursday.  He's a long shot to receive full clearance in time for this weekend's game against the Steelers. We just removed Maclin from our Week 7 Rankings. His absence would leave Albert Wilson and Chris Conley as Kansas City's top 2 WRs. Both guys are more DFS tournament fliers than season-long options.  TE Travis Kelce figures to see a ton of targets with Maclin out.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid declared TE Travis Kelce (ankle) "good to go" after he practiced on Monday.  Kelce suffered a minor ankle injury in practice last week, but it won't be an issue in the opener against the Texans.  He'll be a must-start whenever he's active this year.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce suffered a sprained ankle in Monday's practice, HC Andy Reid announced.  Reid added that it's not a high-ankle sprain and that Kelce would play in Thursday's game if it was the regular season.  It doesn't sound like he's in any danger of missing Week 1.  We'll see if Kelce gets back on the practice field next week, but we're not moving him in the TE rankings.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce left the practice field Monday afternoon with an apparent leg injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it looks like Kelce just rolled his ankle and will be OK. The Kansas City Star reports that the team will not have an update on the player's status until Tuesday. Obviously, all of fantasy nation will be watching this situation closely. Kelce reportedly walked off the field under his own power. So if you're drafting Monday night, treat Kelce as you normally would.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce played just 18 of the 57 offensive snaps (31.6%) in Week 1.  HC Andy Reid suggested on Monday that his playing time will increase going forward.  “He’s capable of playing more than 18 plays," Reid said.  Kelce hauled in 3 of 5 targets for 49 yards in his limited action.  We'll need to see him become at least a 50% player before he can be considered a reliable fantasy option.  But the big upside makes him worth stashing on your roster.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce flashed again in the 2nd exhibition game, taking a 43-yard pass from QB Chase Daniel into the end zone Sunday night.  Kelce caught all 4 of his targets for 63 total yards in the game.  It's certainly worth noting that he still played behind TE Anthony Fasano and made the scoring play vs. 2nd-teamers.  But the Chiefs are short on offensive playmakers and will likely need -- and want -- to find Kelce a significant role.  He makes for a strong upside #2 TE in your fantasy football draft.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce enjoyed a strong start to the preseason Thursday night with 2 catches for 73 yards, including a 69-yard TD catch and run.  (Check out video of the long score here.)  “It was good to have him back out there and he had quite a few snaps,” HC Andy Reid said, per the team's website. “And I think he did a nice job out there. He showed a little speed at the end, I mean heck, he was pulling away from secondary players."  Kelce showed that difference-making speed on his long TD, a factor that only adds to his upside.  Kelce remains an attractive TE2 target late in your draft, though another play or 2 like he had Thursday night could start to push him up draft boards.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) is ready to go for the start of training camp.  He didn't do much this spring but actually reported to camp a few days early with the rookies.  Kelce was on the field Monday without a brace or wrap on his surgically repaired knee.  He admits, though, that he's still trying to get his legs back under him.  "Getting the whole leg strength, the quad strength, the calf strength," Kelce said.  "I’m trying to get those muscles to trigger and fire and get my explosiveness back. That was probably the hardest and the longest to do."  We'll be keeping a close eye on Kelce over the next 6 weeks.  If he can return to pre-injury form, he should emerge as Kansas City's lead pass-catching TE.  Mark him down as a sleeper on your fantasy football cheat sheet.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid expects TE Travis Kelce (knee) to be ready for training camp.  "He's getting close," Reid said.  “He’s been working his tail off. He and (athletic trainer) Rick (Burkholder) have been spending a lot time together.”  We're keeping a close eye on Kelce's status.  If he can get healthy, he has a good chance to emerge as Kansas City's lead pass-catching TE -- and a top-3 option in the passing game.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) has been held out of this week's OTAs.  He was originally expected to participate.  It's unclear if he suffered a setback or if Kansas City is just playing it safe with last year's 3rd-rounder.  HC Andy Reid says there's no timetable for Kelce's return.  He's recovering from microfracture knee surgery, which is a tough procedure to return from.  If Kelce can get healthy, though, he's capable of emerging as the Chiefs' top pass-catching TE.  We'll continue to keep an eye on his status.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) is "supposed" to be ready for OTAs, according to insider Adam Teicher.  The 3rd-rounder missed his entire rookie season with knee problems.  He underwent a pair of surgeries, with the 2nd being a microfracture procedure.  That's a notoriously difficult surgery to return from, so we'll be keeping a close eye on Kelce's progress this spring and summer.  The 6'5, 260-pounder is a talented pass-catcher who could make a significant impact in 2014.  If he's healthy.

10:14pm EDT 10/12/13

The Chiefs have placed rookie TE Travis Kelce on IR with the knee injury that has kept him out through the 1st 5 weeks.  The Kansas City Star reports that Kelce had microfracture surgery on the knee after the arthroscopic procedure revealed a spot in his cartilege that needed further repair.  We'll see how Kelce recovers from such a serious knee procedure and whether he can factor into the 2014 fantasy landscape.
