Jones nearing return? | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

Patriots DE Chandler Jones returned to limited practice this week for the 1st time since suffering a hip injury on Oct. 16. He's officially questionable for Sunday's game at Green Bay and traveled with the team. ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss writes, however, that "it would be a surprise" if Jones actually plays before putting in any full practices.

The Patriots on Tuesday traded DE Chandler Jones to the Cardinals for G Jonathan Cooper and a 2nd-round draft pick. Jones figures to play a 3-4 OLB spot for the Cardinals, which will hurt his IDP value wherever his designation changes. New England can start Jabaal Sheard and Rob Ninkovich on the edges and drafted DEs Geneo Grissom (3rd round) and Trey Flowers (4th) last year. The Pats also had free agent Chris Long in for a visit Monday. Adding Jones can only help an Arizona D that was already good for fantasy with a poor pass rush last season.

Patriots DE Chandler Jones had to go to the hospital Saturday after overdosing on unspecified pills, according to Chris Curtis of WEEI in Boston. The nature of the pills could lead to issues with the league. We'll see where that goes. We'll assume that Jones will be ready for Saturday's game against the Chiefs unless we hear otherwise.

Patriots DE Chandler Jones has been seen on crutches recently as he rehabs from post-Super Bowl surgery, according to ESPN Boston. We haven't seen details on the procedure, but those close to Jones reportedly say there's no long-term concern. Jones lost 6 games last year to a hip injury. We'll keep an eye on his status once on-field workouts begin.

Patriots DE Chandler Jones will miss today's game at Green Bay, not a surprise considering that he still has yet to put in a full practice since his mid-October hip injury. Jones did return to limited workouts this week, carried a "questionable" tag into the weekend and traveled with the team. That all suggests he should be ready to play Week 14. It'll be tough to use him right away in IDP leagues without knowing how big a role he'll play in the defense, but full workouts during the week would at least make him an upside option in deeper leagues.

The Boston Herald reports that the Patriots believe DE Chandler Jones will miss at least 6 weeks with his hip injury and fear that he may need to sit out the rest of the regular season. IDP owners in deep leagues could hold out for a little while to make sure that's the case, but everyone should be making alternate plans at D-line for the rest of the year.
