Colts HC Frank Reich said Monday that RB Marlon Mack (hand) won't play against the Titans this weekend. RB Jonathan Williams surprisingly played a workhorse role with Mack out this past Thursday night, handling 26 carries and 3 catches. He'll be a volume-based RB2 in Week 13 fantasy lineups.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Colts are retaining RB Marlon Mack on a 1-year, $2 million contract. Fantasy owners everywhere wanted Mack to be leaving in free agency, but it makes sense for Indy to keep a reserve RB they trust at low cost. Mack, of course, is coming off the Achilles' tendon tear that ended his 2020 season in Week 1. If he's all the way back, his presence will threaten the rushing workload of Jonathan Taylor and add risk to Taylor as a Round 1 fantasy pick (while Nyheim Hines challenges in targets). We'll probably have to wait until the summer to see whether Mack is back to full strength, though.
RB Marlon Mack expects to be "full go" for the start of training camp, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Mack is recovering from last September's torn Achilles and will hit the free-agent market this coming week. He might need to wait until deeper into the offseason before landing a deal, though, as he attempts to return from such a serious injury. The 25-year-old at least has age on his side and a 1,000-yard season on his resume. We'll see where Mack lands, but he's just a late-round flier in early fantasy drafts.
An MRI has confirmed that Colts RB Marlon Mack suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday's opener. Mack will miss the rest of the season and hit free agency next offseason coming off a major injury. His absence leaves the Colts backfield to Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. Hines actually out-snapped the rookie 39 to 26 in Week 1, tallying 7 carries and 8 targets to Taylor's 9 carries and 6 targets. We're expecting Taylor to quickly emerge as the clear lead ball-carrier here, but Hines should remain plenty involved, especially in the passing game.
The Colts "fear" a torn Achilles for RB Marlon Mack, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. That'd be a season-ending injury -- and leave Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines in the backfield. Taylor would easily be the best fantasy bet, but Hines has been surprisingly involved in the opener.
Colts RB Marlon Mack suffered an ankle injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Jaguars and is officially questionable to return. His absence leaves Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Taylor in Indianapolis' backfield.
Update: The Colts have ruled Mack out for the rest of the game. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Colts fear a torn Achilles' tendon for Mack.
