Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs, hip) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. That should mean target boosts for WRs Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba – and potentially TEs Noah Fant, Colby Parkinson, and Will Dissly. Jake Bobo figures to slide into a top-3 WR role.

Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf hauled all 3 targets for 31 yards with a TD in Week 4 vs. the Giants. Teammate Tyler Lockett had small success as well, recording 4 catches for 54 yards in the primetime contest. Rookie wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba notably tied Lockett for a team-leading 6 targets in the game, though his opportunities only manifested into 3 catches for 5 yards. For as frustrating as the first-year WR has been, it’s worth remembering that he’s only a few weeks removed from surgery for a wrist fracture. Perhaps he’ll have more success following the team’s bye week in Week 5.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. He’ll play vs. the Rams on Sunday, about 2-and-a-half weeks after wrist surgery. HC Pete Carroll said Friday that Smith-Njigba will have “no limitations,” but we’d still try to not use the rookie in fantasy lineups coming off that injury.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Wednesday that WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) will play vs. the Rams this weekend. JSN is just over two weeks removed from wrist surgery but "hasn't said a peep" about the issue and has "no hesitation," Carroll said. We'd try not to use the rookie in Week 1 fantasy lineups, but he could quickly emerge as a viable starter. Smith-Njigba's availability is also a boost for QB Geno Smith.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba was on the practice field on Tuesday for the first time since breaking a bone in his wrist on August 19. His left hand was heavily wrapped, but JSN was catching passes. It's encouraging news, although his availability for the start of the season is still uncertain. Stay tuned for updates.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist surgery) is expected to open the season on the active roster, per insider Ian Rapoport. JSN remains highly questionable to play in the opener. But he’s clearly expected back within the first few games. Head to the WR rankings, and you’ll see the rookie projected for 15 games.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Tuesday that WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba has a "slight fracture" in his wrist and that the team is "optimistic on a 3-4 week timeline," per insider Corbin Smith. Carroll is about as unreliable as they come in terms of injury updates, so take this with a giant grain of salt. But we're a little less than three weeks away from Seattle's season opener, so it sounds like JSN is likely to at least miss Week 1. We'll continue to look for updates on his status.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba is having surgery on his left wrist in Philadelphia on Tuesday after breaking a bone Saturday night against Dallas. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the rookie "still could have a chance to be ready for the start of the regular season." The team should know more about his return timeline after the surgery. We'll await that news before judging whether to move JSN in our 2023 PPR rankings.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njibga has played 13 snaps out wide and 13 snaps in the slot through two preseason games. It looks like Seattle is gearing him up to play all over the formation this season, which can only be good news for his fantasy value. Smith-Njigba isn't cheap in fantasy drafts, but he's capable of beating his 7th-round ADP. Check out more fantasy takeaways from Week 2 of the preseason.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba was one of the best players in the first week of training camp. "He's really a gifted athlete," HC Pete Carroll said of the rookie. "Timing, hand-eye (coordination), body control, extraordinary natural quickness, and he makes things look really easy. I couldn't imagine him not being part of the mix right from the beginning. It just comes too easy for him. We're looking for the spots we can put him in, how to move him around, and see how much he can handle. There's nothing that's holding him back. He's hitting it off with Geno really well right now." If you've read our scouting report on Smith-Njigba, his impressive play is no surprise. Despite stiff target competition from WRs D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, Smith-Njigba is certainly capable of scoring as at least a WR3 this year.

The Seahawks selected Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba with the 20th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. JSN turned in one of the most impressive sophomore seasons we’ve ever seen back in 2021. He racked up 95 catches for 1,606 yards and nine TDs, out-producing both Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave while also beating those eventual first-round picks in yards per route run and Pro Football Focus receiving grade. A lingering hamstring injury limited Smith-Njigba to 60 total snaps this past year. But he was healthy enough to work out in the pre-draft process, where he posted elite marks in the 3-cone and short shuttle. That agility shows up on tape: JSN is impossible to stick with one-on-one and regularly adds yardage after the catch. Smith-Njibga has just-ok size (6’1, 196 lbs.) and speed (4.52-second 40 time), which puts a cap on his big-play upside. But he looks capable of quickly emerging as a high-volume target. Think Amon-Ra St. Brown. With the Seahawks, JSN will fit in as a day-one slot. Note that D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are signed through the 2025 season.

Buckeyes WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba declined to run the 40-yard dash Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine. He also tied for just 23rd at the position in the broad jump (10'5) and 27th in the vertical (35 inches). JSN did, however, lead all WRs with a 6.57-second three-cone drill. Frankly, we're not worried about this performance after the way he performed in a loaded Ohio State WR corps in 2021. Smith-Njigba also continued to look good in the on-field Combine workouts. We'll have much more on the likely NFL Draft first-round pick.
