We Might All Have Been Underrating Woody Marks

The biggest fantasy question in the Houston offense throughout this offseason has arguably been the projected backfield split. The Texans acquired veteran David Montgomery from Detroit and guaranteed him $10 million on a two-year extension that runs through 2027. That seemed to slot the former Lion clearly ahead of second-year incumbent Woody Marks, but the young guy has seemed to build recent momentum. Now it appears we might be looking at an even split.

Shedeur Sanders The Best Of Cleveland's Bad Options?

Browns QB Shedeur Sanders comfortably out-played QB Deshaun Watson in Saturday's preseason game vs. the Bills. Sanders got the start and went 9-of-11 for 74 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT across four possessions. He also took 1 sack on his 13 dropbacks. It was far from a flawless performance, but it was a lot better than QB Deshaun Watson's showing. He mustered just 36 yards with 0 TDs and 1 INT on 5-of-12 passing. The INT came on a bad throw and bad decision into traffic.

Jakobi Meyers' Thumb Injury Might Not Mean More Travis Hunter

Jaguars WR Jakobi Meyers had his right hand in a brace on the sidelines of Friday night's preseason game vs. the Panthers. The injury was revealed to be a jammed right thumb that could cause him to miss time. The assumption would be that the second overall pick in 2025, Travis Hunter, would benefit from increased offensive snaps if Meyers’ injury lingers into the season. But according to Juston Lewis of the Florida Times-Union, that may not be the case.

        Giants Backfield Just Got Messy

The Giants signed RB Najee Harris “under the premise that he's going to be a significant contributor,” ESPN’s Jordan Raanan writes in a detailed look at this suddenly crowded backfield. Ranaan adds that RB Cam Skattebo is still the “top option” but that RB Tyrone Tracy has been a “regular” with the first-team offense in camp and that RB Devin Singletary “shouldn’t be counted out.”

Mike Evans In, De'Zhaun Stribling Out Saturday

The 49ers' revolving door of injuries continues to spin. WR De'Zhaun Stribling missed Saturday's practice with a shoulder injury and is considered day to day, according to insider Matt Maiocco. WR Mike Evans returned on Saturday after exiting Tuesday's practice with quad tightness. Evans has been on and off the field with quad trouble all month, although Maiocco said the issue is not serious. Neither Evans nor Stribling seems in danger of missing Week 1, but we'll keep an eye on both.

Ollie Gordon Departs With an Injury

Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon left Week 2 of the preseason with an upper-body injury. Gordon stayed down for several minutes before walking to the locker room for further evaluation. The second-year pro is competing with Jaylen Wright for the No. 2 role behind De'Vone Achane, and we'll let you know when there's an update on Gordon's status.

Rhamondre Stevenson Has Early Edge Over TreVeyon Henderson

Rhamondre Stevenson appears to have the edge over TreVeyon Henderson in the battle atop the depth chart this training camp. Patriots senior reporter Evan Lazar writes that “Stevenson is trending toward being the lead back to start the season. Stevenson has more consistently found holes between the tackles and is getting the bulk of the reps with Maye.” Lazar adds that “Henderson will still have a major role as a change-of-pace back and ideally in the passing game if Henderson can improve in blitz pickup.”

Bills Could Lean More on Dalton Kincaid in 2026

The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia supplied an encouraging update on Bills TE Dalton Kincaid. “This camp and preseason have looked and felt a bit different for Kincaid,” Buscaglia said. “He’s been at practice every day, he looks stronger, and he’s playing with more physicality in the blocking game. Most importantly, his usage during camp practices has seen a bit of a bump, even with tight ends Dawson Knox and Jackson Hawes fully healthy. It’s not to say that he’s on the precipice of playing 75 percent or more of the team’s offensive snaps, but Kincaid’s health, summer usage, and ability are all trending toward an enhanced role in 2026.”
