Todd Monken Hired as Next Browns’ Head Coach

Former Ravens OC Todd Monken was hired as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Monken has been with the Ravens since 2023, serving as the team’s offensive coordinator under QB Lamar Jackson. He was also a member of the Browns’ staff in 2019, working as offensive coordinator under HC Freddie Kitchens.

Jalen Coker Locked in as the No. 2 WR?

Panthers WR Jalen Coker has “more or less solidified himself as the team’s No. 2 WR,” per reporter Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer. You probably remember Coker’s huge playoff game against the Rams: 9 catches, 134 yards, and 1 score on a 23% target share. Going back to Week 10, he ran a clear second among Carolina WRs in route rate, registering an 84% mark. The 24-year-old is now an exclusive rights free agent, but there’s no chance of him getting out of Carolina.

        Broncos Fire OC Joe Lombardi

        11:11pm UTC 1/27/26

The Broncos have fired OC Joe Lombardi, NFL Network reports. Lombardi spent the past three seasons leading Denver's offense under HC Sean Payton and also spent 12 seasons under Payton in New Orleans. Denver's offense has been just fine under the Payton-Lombardi battery, ranking between 10th and 19th in points all three years. The Broncos did climb in total yards each season, from 26th to 19th to 10th. We'll see who's tabbed to replace Lombardi, but we wouldn't expect sweeping changes to the offense with Payton remaining at the helm.

One More Season For Aaron Rodgers In Pittsburgh?

        7:24pm UTC 1/27/26

Steelers HC Mike McCarthy said at his introductory press conference that he'd "definitely" like to see QB Aaron Rodgers back for 2026. McCarthy took over the Packers' head job in 2006, Rodgers' second NFL season. The pair spent the next 13 years together, encompassing five of Rodgers' six best fantasy seasons. Rodgers was serviceable for Pittsburgh this past year, completing 65.7% of his passes at 6.7 yards per attempt. He ranked 21st among 36 qualifying QBs in Pro Football Focus passing grade. Rodgers is a net neutral at best at this point of his career, but he might be the best the Steelers can do at QB for 2026. Daniel Jones and Malik Willis lead the free-agent QB class, and the draft crop looks weak.

        Jets Dump OC Tanner Engstrand

        7:20pm UTC 1/27/26

The Jets have fired OC Tanner Engstrand, according to multiple reports. It's a late move for the Jets, whose season ended almost a month ago. "[HC] Aaron Glenn and Engstrand had multiple conversations about his role moving forward. Simply, they decided to move forward separately," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said. New York ranked 29th in both points and total yards in 2025, although it's tough to pin too much blame on Engstrand considering the state of the roster. The new OC will inherit an offense with a big question mark at QB, a potentially Breece Hall-less backfield, and nothing at WR behind Garrett Wilson.

Daboll found success as the Bills’ OC from 2018 to 2021 before joining the Giants. His development of Josh Allen made him an ideal OC hire. Bills OC Joe Brady has been promoted and will take over as head coach. He signed a five-year deal. Brady began his time in Buffalo as the QB coach in 2022 before becoming the interim OC in 2023. He was promoted to full-time OC in 2024 and held that role over the last two seasons. Brady’s close ties with QB Josh Allen likely played a large role in his promotion.

Former Miami Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel has officially joined the Los Angeles Chargers as the team's new OC. McDaniel was previously linked to L.A. but was still entertaining potential HC openings. We expected this deal to be finalzied after McDaniel withdrew his name from Cleveland's HC search and canceled an interview with the Bills last Friday. Jonathan Gannon Inherits Talented Packers Defense

        7:25pm UTC 1/26/26

The Packers have selected Jonathan Gannon to replace Jeff Hafley as defensive coordinator. Gannon spent the past three seasons leading Arizona to a 15-36 record but wasn't calling defensive plays for those squads, which sported iffy talent. He spent two years before that coordinating Philly defenses that each ranked top 12 in scoring. The 2022 unit allowed the leagues fewest passing yards, tallied the most sacks and ranked fourth in INTs. Gannon spent seven seasons before that coaching DBs in Minnesota, then Indianapolis. He has been in the NFL as a coach or scout since 2007.

Giants Tap Coordinator with Extensive DB Experience

        5:27pm UTC 1/26/26

The Giants are signing Dennard Wilson to be their new defensive coordinator. Wilson spent the past two years running a Tennessee defense that hasn't been awesome but probably performed better than you think. The Titans ranked 21st in total yards allowed last season; second in 2024. The team also finished a decent 17th in defensive DVOA in Wilson's first season (down to 29th in 2025). This year's unit improved against the run over the second half, after DT Jeffery Simmons returned from a mid-season injury. Wilson's NFL run dates back to 2009, when he started as a pro scout with the Bears. He worked under Lovie Smith there ahead of turns with the Rams, Jets, Eagles, and Ravens. Walker spent 2023 as DBs coach under new Giants HC John Harbaugh before taking the Titans job.

Dolphins Make Odd Choice at Offensive Coordinator

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Dolphins are hiring Bobby Slowik to be their new OC. Really, though, it appears to be more of a promotion, because Slowik spent 2025 as Miami's senior pass-game coordinator. Before that, he spent two years as Houston's OC and six years on Kyle Shanahan's staff in San Francisco. Slowik started his career as a defensive assistant but shifted to offense in the third year of his 49ers run. He spent his final year there (2022) as passing-game coordinator. His first three coaching seasons came as a defensive assistant in Washington, where Mike Shanahan served as HC and Kyle as OC.

Steelers Set To Hire Mike McCarthy

        6:53pm UTC 1/24/26

According to multiple reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to hire former Dallas Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy as their next head coach. McCarthy compiled a 185-123-2 record (including playoffs) in 18 seasons at the helm, first in Green Bay from 2006-2018 and in Dallas from 2020-2024. McCarthy sat out last season after parting ways with the Cowboys, where he led Dallas to a 50-38 record, including 1-3 in the postseason. McCarthy becomes just the fourth HC for the Steelers since 1969, following Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, and Mike Tomlin. QB Aaron Rodgers expressed an interest in reuniting with McCarthy, and could give Pittsburgh one more year of average QB play as a band-aid option in the wide-open AFC North.
