Ravens QB Matt Schaub did not practice on Wednesday due to knee and shoulder injuries. His status for this weekend's game against the Seahawks is uncertain. If Schaub can't go, Baltimore will roll with QB Jimmy Clausen, who might actually be an upgrade.
Ravens QB Matt Schaub (knee, shoulder) practiced all week and is probable for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. He’ll step back in for QB Jimmy Clausen but shouldn’t even sniff a fantasy lineup.
Ravens QB Matt Schaub (knee, shoulder) didn’t practice all week but is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. If he can’t go, QB Jimmy Clausen will get the call. Neither is a fantasy option, and Seattle’s defense is an elite fantasy play regardless of who’s under center for Baltimore.
The Ravens have signed QB Matt Schaub. Turning 34 in June, Schaub has tossed 10 TDs and 16 INTs in 11 appearances over the past 2 seasons. He's well past his prime and will obviously be a pure backup in Baltimore. QB Joe Flacco has yet to miss a game through 7 NFL seasons.
Raiders QB Matt Schaub sat out Sunday's practice with a sore elbow. “He came in yesterday afternoon with a little soreness in his elbow," HC Dennis Allen said. "We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow and kind of take that day by day." It doesn't sound like Schaub is in danger of missing Week 1, but this is just another reason to stay far, far away from him in fantasy drafts. Schaub has been brutal this preseason, completing just 51.5% of his passes, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt and failing to throw a TD. We'll see rookie Derek Carr under center for Oakland before long. He took 1st-team reps with Schaub sidelined Sunday.
Per Raiders insider Scott Bair, QB Matt Schaub will start 16 games if “all goes according to plan.” The coaching staff is reportedly confident in a bounce-back season from Schaub. They also want to develop rookie QB Derek Carr slowly, despite an impressive offseason from the Fresno State product. Carr remains a decent bet to start games in 2014, but a lack of weapons make both QBs avoidable in redraft leagues.
