The Cardinals released their initial depth chart Monday, which lists Tyrann Mathieu as the FS starter despite his continued PUP status. Tony Jefferson, who has been working in his place, sits 2nd on the depth chart. D.J. Swearinger, meanwhile, has fought off competition so far to hold the SS role to this point. Swearinger has flashed some IDP intrigue in the past but failed to stick in lineups or deliver consistent fantasy production. He carries some mild upside into the season but needs to prove he's worth getting excited about. Arizona safeties have proved just OK in fantasy in recent seasons.
Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson (illness) is active for today's game against the Rams. He's not a strong IDP option but is available if he's been in your plans. DE Markus Golden (ankle) is inactive.
Cardinals S Budda Baker (foot) and S Tre Boston (chest) are questionable for Sunday's game at Kansas City. Baker showed up on the injury report Thursday, missing that day's workout, but returned for limited participation Friday. Boston put in limited workouts all week after missing the past 2 games. We'll check the status of both safeties Sunday morning.
Cardinals DE Markus Golden (knee) and DT Robert Nkemdiche (foot) are active for today's game against the Vikings. Golden's not an IDP option yet, but Nkemdiche can be used in deeper leagues -- especially those with a DT-specific slot.
Cardinals DE Markus Golden (knee) and DT Robert Nkemdiche (foot) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Each guy finished the week with limited practices and could be in for Week 6. We'll check on their statuses Sunday morning. Nkemdiche would be a lower-level IDP option if available. Golden still needs to show he's all the way back from last season's ACL tear before he returns to the IDP radar.
Cardinals DT Robert Nkemdiche (foot) and DE Markus Golden (knee) are inactive for today's game against the 49ers. That hurts the team defense but doesn't remove the fantasy upside from the matchup.
