Colts TE Jack Doyle (hip) is out for Sunday's game against the Eagles. We don't have any details on his injury, but he didn't practice all week. Consider him questionable at best for Week 4. Doyle's absence this weekend should mean a big boost in snaps and targets for TE Eric Ebron. He's a nice Week 3 fantasy play.

UPDATE: HC Frank Reich labeled Doyle "week-to-week" on Friday.

Recent Shark Bites

Colts TE Jack Doyle got back to running routes at full speed this week, according to Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star. The TE hasn't yet been cleared for full practice, but the progress is good news for the hip he had repaired after the season. We'll check on Doyle's participation once training camp arrives.

Colts TE Jack Doyle might be ready to get back on the field later this month and is fully expected back by training camp, GM Chris Ballard said. Doyle was limited to just 6 games last season by hip and kidney injuries. He underwent what he called a “procedure" on the kidney and had surgery to fix the hip. He's been running and just recently began cutting again. “I feel good," he said. "Happy with the progress that I am making. Just slowly coming along, but it’s going in the right direction." Doyle saw 33 targets in his 6 games last year and ranked 8th among TEs in PPR points per game. He'll find more target competition with the offseason additions of Devin Funchess and rookie Parris Campbell, but Doyle could still bring spot-start value in 2019.

Colts GM Chris Ballard revealed at the Combine Wednesday that TE Jack Doyle recently underwent hip surgery. Doyle suffered a hip injury in Week 2 that cost him 5 games this past season. He's expected to be sidelined until training camp. "Jack's a vet player. I trust him; trust that he's going to do everything that he can to get back," Ballard said. "And we're shooting for the start of training camp for him to be back." We'll track Doyle's recovery this summer. He remained a big part of the Colts passing game when healthy last year, averaging 5.5 targets per game.

Colts TE Jack Doyle (hip) practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. He's not listed on the final injury report and will play against the Raiders this weekend. Doyle is a risky fantasy play in his 1st action since Week 2, but he's worth considering in low-end TE1 territory. His return also dings TE Eric Ebron's fantasy value. Doyle out-targeted Ebron 15 to 9 over the first 2 games.

Colts HC Frank Reich said TE Jack Doyle (hip) will practice on Wednesday for the first time since going down in Week 2. Reich "didn't rule him out" for Sunday's game against the Raiders, according to insider Mike Wells. We'll monitor Doyle's progress over the next few days. His return would obviously be a buzzkill for TE Eric Ebron's fantasy value.
