Redskins insider JP Finlay "wouldn't be shocked" if WR Josh Doctson was cut before Week 1. "What I can tell you from sources, they've tried to trade Doctson for two years. They haven't been able to trade him," Finlay said. "The athletic ability is there, but it never all comes together. I wouldn't be shocked if Josh Doctson gets cut when they go down to 53. I don't expect it to happen, but Jay Gruden and the front office made a big proclamation when they didn't pick up that [5th-year] option." Finlay went on to say that Paul Richardson, Trey Quinn and Terry McLaurin are all ahead of Doctson on the depth chart. Doctson is obviously off the redraft radar, and his dynasty stock continues to sink.
The Jets signed WR Josh Doctson. The 2016 first-rounder was a bust in Washington and didn't record a single catch in Minnesota this past season. Doctson is still just 27 and will find opportunity in New York, where the Jets are expected to lose WR Robby Anderson in free agency. But we're not holding our breath for a Doctson breakout.
The Vikings have signed WR Josh Doctson, who was released by the Redskins over the weekend. The former 1st-rounder has been a colossal disappointment through 3 NFL seasons. We'll see if the change of scenery does him any good. Doctson could theoretically take over as Minnesota's #3 WR, a spot currently held by Chad Beebe. But for now, he's not worth a roster spot in redraft leagues.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that the Redskins will release WR Josh Doctson if they can't find a trade partner before the 4 pm ET roster cutdown deadline. (They won't). Doctson has been 1 of the least efficient WRs in the league over the past 3 seasons, hauling in just 50% of his targets. We'll see where he ends up, but he's off the fantasy radar for now. Washington will open the season with Paul Richardson at 1 starting outside WR spot and Trey Quinn in the slot. Rookie Terry McLaurin looks like the favorite for the other outside spot.
Redskins WR Josh Doctson (concussion) is active for today’s game against the Jaguars. Between that matchup and having Josh Johnson under center, Doctson is an extremely shaky fantasy play.
Redskins WR Josh Doctson (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Jaguars. He returned to practice on Friday but still needs to gain final clearance. We’ll see if he’s active on Sunday morning, but Doctson is a weak fantasy play in a tough matchup and with Josh Johnson under center.
