Lions CBs Darius Slay (hamstring) and Quandre Diggs (hamstring) are active for today's game against the Vikings. DL Da'Shawn Hand (elbow) is inactive.
The Lions are finalizing a deal to make Dan Campbell their new HC, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Campbell spent 10 seasons playing TE in the league and has been in the coaching ranks for the past 11. The first 6 of those came in Miami -- primarily as a TEs coach, with a 12-game stint as interim HC in 2015. Campbell has been assistant HC and TEs coach in New Orleans under Sean Payton for the last 5 years. It's a relatively uninspiring hire, but we'll see who Campbell brings aboard as OC.
The Lions have announced that they've fired HC Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn. Patricia was in his 3rd season with Detroit. He finishes just 13-29-1, with the 6-10 of his 1st season standing as his best winning percentage. Quinn had been at his post since 2016, overseeing the Lions go 31-43-1 in that time. That span started with a pair of 9-7 seasons under Jim Caldwell. OC Darrell Bevell steps into the interim HC role.
Lions DT Damon HArrison (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Bears. DE Trey Flowers (concussion) is active, though, and ready to be a solid IDP option. DE Da'Shawn Hand (ankle) and S Tracy Walker (knee) are also active. Hand is no more than a low-level factor. A healthy Walker has been a weekly IDP starter this season, but he carries significant risk this week. Walker previously returned for Week 11 but left that game early.
Lions DE Trey Flowers (concussion), S Tracy Walker (knee), DT Damon Harrison (knee) and DE Da'Shawn Hand (ankle) are questionable for today's game against the Bears. Flowers progressed to a full practice Wednesday, but we have yet to see that he has gained full clearance to return from his concussion. If he gets that Thursday, he'll be a nice IDP option against the Bears. Walker remained limited all week. The last time he tried to return from this knee injury found him leaving that game in the 1st half. He's too risky for Week 13. Harrison has played through "questionable" tags the past 2 weeks and should be fine. Hand has only appeared in 2 games all season and missed the past 3 with the injury that continued to limit him in practice this week. We'll update the statuses on all 4 around 10:30 a.m. ET. Detroit has already ruled out CB Rashaan Melvin (ribs) for the 2nd straight game.
The Lions have ruled DE Trey Flowers (concussion) and S Tracy Walker (knee) out for Sunday's game against Washington. That keeps rookie S Will Harris in the starting lineup in Walker's spot. Detroit will be thin at DE, with Da'Shawn Hand also out.
