NFL Network's James Palmer reports that this was a "predetermined rest week" for Chiefs RB LeSean McCoy. "Chiefs want him fresh down the stretch," Palmer adds. So it at least sounds like McCoy hasn't fallen completely out of Kansas City's plans. But considering he played just 6 snaps last week, he might need a Damien Williams injury to re-emerge as a viable fantasy option.
The Bucs have signed RB LeSean McCoy. It's a 1-year deal for the veteran minimum, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, which says a lot about how much McCoy has to offer at this point. The 32-year-old was a healthy scratch for 6 of the Chiefs' final 11 games last year (including playoffs) and totaled just 29 carries and 12 targets in the other 5. He finished the season with 4.6 yards per carry but ranked 44th in Elusive Rating and 35th in Pro Football Focus' rushing grades among 45 RBs with 100+ carries. McCoy isn't even a lock to make the Bucs' final roster -- let alone be a fantasy factor this season. We'll keep an eye on the situation. But for now, we're not adjusting the projections for Ronald Jones or Ke'Shawn Vaughn.
Chiefs RB LeSean McCoy is a healthy scratch for today's AFC Championship against the Titans. He played just 1 snap last week, so it's not a major surprise. Damien Williams will continue to serve as Kansas City's feature back, with rookie Darwin Thompson as the #2 back.
Chiefs RB LeSean McCoy is a healthy scratch for tonight's game against the Bears. The 31-year-old has been running on fumes over the 2nd half of the season. Kansas City will roll with RBs Damien Williams, Spencer Ware and Darwin Thompson tonight. Williams is the best fantasy bet of the bunch.
Despite RB Damien Williams (rib) being inactive and RB Darrel Williams exiting in the 3rd quarter with a hamstring injury, RB LeSean McCoy finished with just 5 carries and 3 targets in the win over the Raiders. “We’re not fooling anybody here, he’s not getting any younger, so it’s my responsibility to manage him as best I can, and I think I know him as well as anybody," HC Andy Reid said afterward. "So I’m going to do what I think is right on that." If both Williamses are out for Week 14's game against the Patriots, we're probably looking at something close to a 50/50 split between McCoy and RB Darwin Thompson. Thompson is worth grabbing off waiver wires this week.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid said Monday that RB LeSean McCoy did not sustain a concussion in the win over the Chargers. He left in the 4th quarter of that game to get checked but evidently passed the concussion test. So McCoy will be available for this weekend's game against the Raiders. RB Damien Williams' status remains uncertain after he suffered a rib injury in the Chargers game.
