The Lions have ruled MLB Jarrad Davis (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. That should mean more playing time for rookie LB Jahlani Tavai. DT A'Shawn Robinson (shoulder) has also been ruled out. Detroit has also deemed DT John Atkins (illness) questionable. That doesn't matter for IDP purposes, but missing Atkins in addition to Robinson would leave the team without 2 of its top 4 DTs from last week's lineup. LB Christian Jones (shoulder) is also questionable. That's another unimportant designation for IDP, but Jones' absence would similarly chip away at Detroit's regular starting lineup.
The Jets have activated LB Jarrad Davis off IR. He has been out since August with an ankle injury. We'll see what role Davis plays but would not trust him in IDP lineups immediately.
ESPN's Rich Cimini reports that the Jets will be activating LB Jarrad Davis (ankle) off IR for Sunday's game against the Bengals. We'll see how much playing time he gets.
Jets HC Robert Saleh says he hopes to get LB Jarrad Davis back from IR after the Week 6 bye. Davis has been out since the preseason with an ankle injury. He was wearing the green dot and calling defensive plays before he went down, though. We'll see whether Davis can reclaim his job from Quincy Williams upon return.
Jets HC Robert Saleh told reporters Monday that LB Jarrad Davis will likely be out until sometime around the team's Week 6 bye with his ankle injury. Davis hurt the ankle in Saturday's preseason game, leaving the sideline on a cart. According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, Saleh says rookie Jamien Sherwood will step into Davis' starting role. Davis had appeared to be on track for full or near-full playing time. If Sherwood can approximate that playing time, he could be an early-season steal in IDP leagues.
ESPN's Rich Cimini reports that LB Jarrad Davis has been calling the defensive plays in the huddle at practice lately. "Obviously, it could change," Cimini notes. But it this holds, then it would signal a near full-time role for Davis. We wouldn't bet on him playing more than C.J. Mosley -- who beats Davis significantly in both talent and salary -- but that looks like the Jets' lead duo at the position. And defenses across the league lean more on alignments with 2 or even 1 off-ball LB. Davis carries late-sleeper potential for your IDP draft.
