The Jets used the franchise tag on kicker Nick Folk.  It’s the first time since 2011 that New York has assigned the tag, and it means they’ll pay Folk $3.4 million.  The veteran enjoyed a career year in 2013, knocking in 33 of 36 FG attempts (91.6%).  That propelled him to a top-15 fantasy season.  Kicking for a questionable Jets offense, though, he’s a poor bet to replicate his success.

The Bucs have signed K Nick Folk. He'll compete for the starting job with K Roberto Aguayo, who's coming off a disappointing rookie campaign that saw him convert just 71% of his FGs. Folk has bested that mark in 7 straight seasons.

The Jets have placed K Nick Folk on IR with the groin injury he suffered in pregame warmups last week.  He'll be replaced by K Randy Bullock, who was cut by the Texans in September.  Bullock missed 2 XPs in Houston's first 3 games and has connected on just 80.3% of his career FG attempts.  You can do better for your fantasy squad.

Jets K Nick Folk (groin) is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, according to HC Todd Bowles.  He will likely end up on IR and isn't worth rostering in any fantasy leagues.  The Jets will add a kicker within the next 48 hours.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports that Jets K Nick Folk suffered a Grade 1 quad strain before Sunday's win over the Jaguars. The injury is expected to keep him out of Thursday night's meeting with the Bills. We'll see beyond that, but it doesn't make much sense to keep a kicker with a leg-muscle injury on your fantasy roster (in nearly all cases). The fact that the Jets still let him hold for kicks against Jacksonville tells us they're not too worried.

Update: NJ.com reports that Jets K Nick Folk will miss at least 4 weeks. The team tried out 4 free-agent kickers Monday.

Jets K Nick Folk is active for Sunday's game but won't kick because of a quad injury, according to insider Manish Mehta.  Folk wasn't listed on the Week 9 injury report, so the injury must have occurred in pregame warmups.  He's available to hold for P Ryan Quigley, who will handle kicking duties.
