Carroll happy with Michael's Week 2 performance

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll was happy with RB Christine Michael's Week 2 performance, despite a costly late-game fumble. "He hit it really well," Carroll said. "He looks like he shot out of a cannon. He’s really quick. He’s just getting going. I think he’s really going to get better and more efficient. He had the unfortunate turnover, but other than that he really hit it really well. He must be averaging 5 yards a carry or something. First two games, that’s pretty good." Michael is in fact averaging exactly 5 yards per carry. The rest of Seattle's RBs are at 1.05, including a 1.3 mark for Thomas Rawls. Michael is even beating Rawls in yards after contact, 2.32 to 1.11. With Rawls now dealing with a leg injury, it's time for Seattle to see what Michael can do as the lead back.

The Colts announced Wednesday that they have re-signed RB Christine Michael. The 27-year-old joined Indy last offseason but went on IR after suffering an injury in June minicamp. Michael's notable at the moment only because the Colts backfield looks far from set. Frank Gore is a free agent who doesn't look like he'll return. That leaves Marlon Mack, Robert Turbin, Josh Ferguson and Matt Jones with Michael at the moment. Indy should be adding to that group early in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Michael is still only 26 but has proven to be a fantasy football tease over the past 5 seasons. The Packers also released RB Don Jackson, leaving them with Ty Montgomery and rookies Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones and Devante Mays.

It seems unwise to bank on that trend changing in 2017.
