The Colts expect S Clayton Geathers to make his 2017 debut Sunday against the Titans, according to ESPN's Mike Wells. The team reportedly plans to have the former starter on a "pitch count" after a little more than a year off for a neck injury he suffered last year against Tennessee. But we wouldn't be surprised if Geathers works his way back toward starter-level snaps soon. HC Chuck Pagano said Geathers still "knows the defense inside and out" and that he has looked good in practice in recent weeks.

The Colts will be placing S Clayton Geathers (neck) on the PUP list to open the regular season, ESPN reports. That will cost the 3rd-year safety at least the 1st 6 games. Geathers finished 2016 on IR because of a neck injury that eventually required surgery in March. He has yet to return to the field. A decision this early to put him on the PUP casts some doubt on whether Geathers will be available at all in 2017. And the fact that it's a neck issue looks worrisome for his outlook beyond the coming season. Needless to say, we've knocked him way down the 2017 IDP rankings. And he has tumbled down our dynasty IDP rankings as well. Converted CB Darius Butler is the early favorite to start with rookie S Malik Hooker. We'll see whether 2016 rookie T.J. Green enters the mix.

The Colts on Monday placed S Clayton Geathers on IR with the neck injury that cost him the past 3 games. Indy signed former Bills S Duke Williams to fill the roster spot. Rookie S T.J. Green has played a minimal role even with Geathers out, as the Colts have started 3 CBs. Mike Adams is the only full-time safety and the only IDP consideration at the position for the team. Geathers was on a roll stat wise before his injury and will carry plenty of fantasy intrigue into next season.

The Colts have ruled S Clayton Geathers out with the neck injury that cost him Week 13.

The Colts have ruled S Clayton Geathers (concussion) out for Thursday night's game against Pittsburgh. That will likely push rookie T.J. Green back into the lineup and leave more tackle opportunities for S Mike Adams.
