Buccaneers S Justin Evans has missed practice Wednesday and Thursday this week because of a toe injury. That doesn't seem to bode well for his chances of playing Sunday against the Giants. LB Lavonte David also continued to miss practice Thursday, coming off an MCL sprain. If he sits, the Bucs would be without their top 2 LBs and 2 starting safeties. (Chris Conte has been out with a knee injury.) An upside spot already for the Giants' offense is only looking better. We'll keep an eye on Evans and David for IDP purposes.
Buccaneers S Justin Evans practiced Wednesday for the 1st time since training camp began, according to Pewter Report. Evans also spent offseason workouts on the sideline thanks to multiple surgeries on the foot he injured late last year. A healthy Evans should be able to work his way back into the starting lineup. But getting there in time for Week 1 might be a bit too much to expect. M.J. Stewart joined SS Jordan Whitehead in the starting lineup for Friday night's 3rd preseason game.
Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians told the Tampa Bay Times this week that he has "no idea" when S Justin Evans will return to the field. Evans missed the end of last season with turf toe and has added a heel injury. He missed the entire offseason program. "If he had practiced all spring and been penciled in as a starter, I'd be concerned," Arians said. "But I haven't seen him play. I've seen the other guys play." Evans shouldn't be in 2019 IDP plans right now. We'll see how he progresses.
The Buccaneers have placed S Justin Evans on IR with the toe injury that cost him the past 2 games, plus a pair before that. That leaves the safety spots primarily to Andrew Adams and Jordan Whitehead, though neither guy reached 80% playing time last week. Neither makes for a strong IDP option vs. Dallas in Week 16.
Buccaneers S Justin Evans left Sunday's game against the Panthers early after aggravating the injury to his right big toe. Evans missed Wednesday's practice and was seen in a walking boot. That bodes ill for Evans' Sunday availability -- and durability even if he plays. Evans practiced every day last week, including a full workout Friday. We've removed him from the Week 14 DB rankings (for now, at least).
Bucaneers S Justin Evans left Monday night's game in the 2nd quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. We'll see about his participation heading into Week 16, but the situation makes an already-inconsistent IDP option worth benching.
