Javonte Williams Set For Bellcow Usage

Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer called RB Javonte Williams a "bellcow" on Monday. "The other guys are certainly gonna play, but Javonte’s one of those guys that, the stronger he gets is based off how many carries he gets," Schottenheimer added.

        Keaton Mitchell Back At Practice

Chargers RB Keaton Mitchell was back at practice on Monday, per ESPN's Kris Rhim. Mitchell missed the previous six practices with an undisclosed injury. We'll get the Chargers' first official practice report of the season on Wednesday, but Mitchell is seemingly on track to play in this weekend's opener vs. the Cardinals. He's expected to play a change-of-pace role behind lead back Omarion Hampton.

Giants Tell Us Something About Their WRs By Dumping Darius Slayton

The Giants on Monday released WR Darius Slayton. It's a surprising move but shouldn't come as a total shock. SNY's John Flanigan says Slayton "was said to have been on the bubble ahead of last weekend's roster cutdown." But that Slayton stuck around through that before getting ousted makes it a little stranger. The 29-year-old has been with the team since 2019 and was signed through 2027. The move doesn't appear to save the Giants any money or cap space. That could signal the team feels the need to add a player at another position.

Schefter: Puka Nacua Unlikely To Be Suspended This Season

ESPN's Adam Schefter said Monday on The Pat McAfee Show that "there's a real possibility" Rams WR Puka Nacua won't be suspended at any point this season. "He's gonna be out there on Thursday night against the 49ers, and it doesn't sound like he's gonna face any discipline this year right now," Schefter added. "We'll see if anything comes of that."

Emeka Egbuka & Jalen McMillan On Track For Week 1

Buccaneers WRs Emeka Egbuka (toe) and Jalen McMillan (knee) practiced on Monday, according to The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud. Both guys missed chunks of August with their injuries but are on track to play vs. the Bengals this weekend. Egbuka will carry elevated risk until we know that toe isn't an issue, but he can be used in most fantasy lineups this week. McMillan is a bench stash for now as Tampa Bay's likely No. 3 target.

Chuba Hubbard The Healthier Panthers RB

After missing much of August with a hamstring injury, Chuba Hubbard is the healthier of Carolina's top two RBs heading into Week 1. HC Dave Canales said Monday that Hubbard "looks fast, strong, like he was before." RB Jonathon Brooks, meanwhile, has been working off to the side with trainers for close to a week now with what Canales has deemed "soreness."

Brian Thomas Jr. Should be Good for Week 1

Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. should be ready for the regular-season opener, despite a left-shoulder issue late in August. SI's John Shipley says Thomas had shed his non-contact practice jersey by the middle of last week.
