Shark Bites

Raiders RB Latavius Murray's 2013 rookie campaign was cut short by a preseason ankle injury.  He was impressing the coaching staff before that, though, and the Raiders are excited to see what he can bring to the backfield this coming season.  “I think Latavius is one of those guys that we’re anxious to see be healthy and get out there and play,” HC Dennis Allen said. “He’s a big back that’s got excellent speed and excellent size. He runs tough."  Murray certainly passes the eye test.  He goes 6'3, 230 pounds with 4.38 speed.  And his final season at Central Florida produced 1,106 rushing yards, 231 receiving yards and 19 total TDs.  The Raiders are fully expected to let free agent Darren McFadden walk, although they're reportedly interested in bringing back Rashad Jennings.  Even then, Murray has the potential to beat out Jennings for the starting job.  He'll be worth keeping a close eye on this summer and needs to be owned in all keeper and dynasty leagues.

Recent Shark Bites

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (NIR/rest) received the day off from practice on Wednesday. It's not unusual for veterans to sit out Wednesday practices, so no need for alarm. We'll check back on Murray's status for Week 17 vs. the Chiefs tomorrow.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (foot) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. He got in 2 limited practices this week and was listed as questionable, but we haven’t heard anything about him being limited in this one.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (foot) was a limited practice on Friday and carries a questionable injury designation for Week 16's game vs. the Rams. On Thursday, Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett said that multiple players, including Murray, were held out of practice due to the turf surface. The game will be played on a turf field at SoFi Stadium, and Hackett believes the limited exposure was best. Definitely an odd quote but it does provide some context. Murray is the RB16 overall in PPR scoring since Week 11 largely on the back of heavy usage. That said, the Rams are the 7th-toughest matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs in 2022. Murray is best viewed as a flex option in Week 16.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (foot) did not practice on Thursday after logging limited participation the day before. We consider Murray an RB3/flex option in Week 16 vs. the Rams. As such, if you have safer options who play in Saturday games, you may want to pivot there. The schedule handed fantasy managers so many Saturday games this week that the waiting game may prove to be difficult on this front.

The Cardinals somehow managed to let Broncos RB Latavius Murray run for 130 yards and a TD on 24 carries in Sunday's Denver victory. Murray hit runs of 35 and 21 yards, averaging 5.4 per rush overall. RB Marlon Mack ran 5 times for 37 yards and a TD, adding 4 receptions for 26 yards on 4 targets. His target count tied for 2nd on the team, and Mack ranked 2nd along in catches. Murray caught his only target for 12 yards. RB Devine Ozigbo mixed in for 2 carries for 2 yards.
