Patriots HC Bill Belichick suggested that QB Jimmy Garoppolo could be a game-time decision for Thursday night's meeting with the Texans. “Could be, sure,” Belichick said. “It would depend on the situation. It would depend on a lot of things. It’s possible. Sure.” Garoppolo's injury is to his throwing shoulder, so it's tough to imagine his playing and being effective 4 days after getting hurt. This is probably a case of the Patriots being the Patriots. We're still expecting QB Jacoby Brissett to start on Thursday, but we'll continue to monitor the situation.
49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo remained sidelined on Wednesday. That's not a good start in his quest to return for this weekend's game vs. the Eagles. QB Nick Mullens played well in Garoppolo's absence last week, completing 25 of 36 passes for 343 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs.
Niners HC Kyle Shanahan says QB Jimmy Garoppolo's high-ankle sprain isn't serious, according to multiple reports. The team considers Garoppolo week to week, and he might have a shot to play the Giants this Sunday. We'll see how the week goes for Garoppolo. Nick Mullens would start if Garoppolo misses further time.
49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Garoppolo was able to play through the injury during the 1st half of the win over the Jets before sitting out the 2nd. Skill guys tend to miss multiple games with this injury, but perhaps the QB can return for Week 3. If not, San Francisco will turn to QB Nick Mullens, who completed 8 of 11 passes for 71 yards and a score in relief of Garoppolo today. In 8 starts back in 2018, Mullens averaged 285 yards and 1.6 TDs per game.
49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a right ankle injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Jets. He finished that half but will not play in the 2nd, the team announced. This might be a case of San Francisco playing it safe with a 21-3 lead. We'll look for updates on Garoppolo's status after the game. QB Nick Mullens is in for the 49ers.
Niners HC Kyle Shanahan said Friday that QB Jimmy Garoppolo will not play in any preseason games, according to Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group. Garoppolo and LB Kwon Alexander will sit out the exhibitions as they work back from ACL tears that ended 2018 early for each player. This news isn't a big deal. Each player likely would have played less than a full game's worth of snaps anyway. But it would have been nice for fantasy owners to see Garoppolo in some game action before the regular season. Still, he's a solid draft value low in QB2 territory.
