Rams TE Gerald Everett is sidelined with a shoulder sprain, HC Sean McVay said. "You guys see him out here where he had a little splint. We’re going to be smart with him," McVay said. "So, he’ll probably be doing rehab and different things like that for at least the next week or so ... Fortunately, it’s not something right now that we felt like had to get fixed, but until you really go through that process you never know how it’s truly going to respond.” This doesn't sound like a serious issue, although McVay does make it seem like the team doesn't know exactly how long Everett will be out. We'll keep an eye on this one. The presence of Everett and TE Tyler Higbee make both guys tough to trust in fantasy lineups. But if either guy misses time this season, the other could become a spot-start option.
Second-year Rams TE Gerald Everett has reportedly showed well in early practices. "Gerald Everett's been one of the guys that's stood out really throughout the offseason program so far in terms of getting better," HC Sean McVay said, per Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire. "You see the overall athleticism; he's getting better with the attention to detail." Everett also told the team website that he's more confident and comfy with the playbook. A 2nd-round pick last year, Everett has a chance to pass TE Tyler Higbee on the depth chart this summer and carve out a decent role. The wealth of options in an offense that ranked just 24th in pass attempts last year lowers Everett's fantasy ceiling, but he's worth a look as a 3rd TE in best-ball drafting.
The Rams added South Alabama TE Gerald Everett with the 44th overall pick of the draft. It’s a surprising selection after the coaching staff spent the early offseason talking up 2nd-year TE Tyler Higbee, although the Rams could certainly use offensive weapons however they can get them. Everett earned an 88th percentile SPARQ score at the Combine, registering a 4.62-second 40 time and 37.5-inch vertical at 6’3, 239 pounds. We don’t have much college film to go on, but Everett did rack up 90 catches, 1,292 yards and 12 TDs at South Alabama over the past 2 seasons. Scouts laud his quickness, catch radius and after-catch ability. Making a huge jump in competition at a tough position, though, Everett won’t be worth a redraft pick. He’s a late-round flier in dynasty rookie drafts.
