Landry hurts ankle

Titans rookie OLB Harold Landry left Saturday night's game against the Steelers in the 1st quarter with an ankle injury. We'll see about the severity of that for a 2nd-round pick who has seemingly worked his way into Tennessee's edge rotation. Landry saw his final college season ended early by an ankle injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Titans EDGE Harold Landry suffered an ACL tear in Wednesday's practice. That would obviously end the season for Tennessee's top pass-rusher, an especially big blow for that defense. Landry had ranked inside the top 10 D-linemen in our IDP rankings, where he carries that designation.

The Titans have reached a 5-year deal with OLB Harold Landry worth $87.5 million, including $52.5 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports. Tennessee elected not to use the franchise tag on Landry by Tuesday afternoon's deadline. Now it's clear that move was a bet that the 2 sides could finalize the new contract. Landry is coming off season highs in sacks (12), QB hits (22) and tackles (75). He'll turn 26 in June.

The Titans traded up to select OLB Harold Landry in Round 2 of the NFL Draft. Landry struggled through an injury-shortened final season at Boston College but racked up 16.5 sacks as a junior and 38 total tackles for loss over his sophomore and junior seasons. He'll need to transition to primarily playing with his hand off the ground in Tennessee but presents terrific athleticism and strong pass-rushing moves. He'd sport more IDP upside as a DE than a LB, but there's potential here in pressure-friendly scoring systems.
