The Eagles moved up from 15 to 12 Thursday night for Mississippi State's Fletcher Cox. The DT posted 5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss last season in earning 1st-team all-SEC honors. In Philly, he figures to immediately join a DT rotation that includes Cullen Jenkins, Mike Patterson, Derek Landri and Antonio Dixon. One of those guys will probably not make the regular-season roster. Cox's biggest contribution might be as a pass rusher. He, Jenkins, Trent Cole and Jason Babin will give opposing offenses fits in obvious passing situations. Cox's individual fantasy value will depend largely on his playing time. He can only help the value of the Eagles' team D, though.

The Eagles expect DT Fletcher Cox to be ready to play in Sunday's opener against Washington, GM Howie Roseman said during a Saturday press conference. Cox spent all of training camp and the preseason putting in limited work while making his way back from offseason foot surgery. IDP owners might want to anticipate a slower start for Cox this season, but the veteran clearly brings as much upside as any DT. Philly's team D is certainly better for having Cox on the field.
