The Jets added WR Devin Smith with the 37th overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft. One of the best deep-ball weapons to enter the league in recent memory, Smith averaged 28.2 yards per catch this past season. That included 17 catches, 754 yards and 10 TDs on targets 20+ yards downfield. Smith boasts 4.4 speed with NFL-ready ball tracking and body control. New York isn't the best landing spot, though. He'll be the #3 WR at best in 2015 behind Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall. And the Jets still have a big question mark at QB with Geno Smith and Ryan Fitzpatrick currently atop the depth chart.
The Jets have waived/injured WR Devin Smith. He'll likely go unclaimed and land on IR. Smith tore his ACL for the 2nd time as a pro in April. He's appeared in just 14 games since being selected in the 2nd round of the 2015 draft. He's still just 25, but his dynasty stock is fading fast.
Jets GM Mike McCagnan said Saturday that WR Devin Smith has torn his right ACL in OTA workouts. It's the 2nd tear of that ligament for Smith, a 2nd-round pick in 2015. It's tough to find optimism in the fantasy outlook for a deep threat with 2 tears in the same knee, especially when you combine that with a low-ceiling situation. Looks like time to give up on Smith even in dynasty leagues. We'll see where things go from here. The rest of the WR corps, meanwhile, looks quite open -- especially as we await Eric Decker's return from a pair of surgeries.
Jets WR Devin Smith tore his ACL in Sunday's win over the Titans. It ends his rookie season and puts his availability for the start of the 2016 campaign in serious jeopardy. Smith fell behind after fracturing his ribs and puncturing his lung in training camp and never made much of an impact, finishing with just 9 catches on 28 targets for 115 yards and 1 TD. With both Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker under contract next year, Smith will return to battle for the #3 WR spot.
Jets WR Devin Smith is set to make his pro debut against the Eagles today, according to insider Manish Mehta. The rookie fractured his ribs and punctured his lung in training camp but has been practicing for a couple of weeks now. He figures to slot in as the #3 or #4 WR today and isn't a fantasy option. But Smith could quickly work his way into a permanent role as the #3 WR behind Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. A supreme deep-ball talent, Smith is worth tracking closely.
Jets WR Devin Smith (ribs) is probable for Sunday's game against the Browns. The rookie fractured 3 ribs and punctured a lung early in training camp. That missed time killed any chance he had at a significant early-season role. But Smith could quickly climb up to the 3rd spot on the depth chart. That'd put him on the fantasy radar on a Jets offense that figures to run lots of 3-WR sets.
