Latimer hurts knee | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

Broncos WR Cody Latimer left Saturday night's preseason game with a knee injury and didn't return. The Denver Post reports that he "remained upright and walking around on the sidelines." It doesn't sound too serious, but we'll keep an eye out for further updates. Latimer has a path to the #3 WR role if healthy, albeit in an offense with a shaky QB outlook.

Update: Latimer will have an MRI Sunday but told The Denver Post that he expects to be ready for Week 1. HC Gary Kubiak added that the team doesn't think it's "serious."

Recent Shark Bites

Giants WR Cody Latimer (concussion) practiced all week and is set to return for Sunday’s game against the Redskins. We’ll see where he fits into this WR group behind Sterling Shepard and alongside Bennie Fowler and Darius Slayton. Shepard is the only Giants WR that should be in Week 4 fantasy lineups.

Giants WR Cody Latimer is done for the day after sustaining a concussion in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Bills. With WR Sterling Shepard inactive with his own concussion, the G-Men are down to WRs Bennie Fowler, Russell Shepard, T.J. Jones and Cody Core.

Giants WR Cody Latimer (calf) is active for today’s game against the Bills. He’s the de facto #1 WR with Sterling Shepard (concussion) and Golden Tate (suspension) out but figures to be the 3rd option in the passing game behind TE Evan Engram and RB Saquon Barkley.

Broncos WR Cody Latimer told The Denver Post that he's feeling good physically heading into his 3rd season after taking good care of his body in the offseason. As for the mental side, the former 2nd-round pick also says he has gained confidence. “I was very hesitant,” he said of his first two NFL seasons. “Was worried about what everybody thought — was Peyton (Manning) going to be mad, was coach going to be mad. I was very nervous out there. Going out here now, especially in my third year, I’m confident in myself. I know what I can do. I just go out there and make plays.” That can certainly only help a player who has caught just 8 total passes over his 1st 2 seasons. Latimer will have to continue proving himself before fantasy football owners can expect any relevance. But WR Bennie Fowler will now miss at least a few weeks after suffering an elbow fracture, according to the Post, which should leave Latimer in the lead for the #3 role. That's not an exciting spot in an offense with Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian competing to start at QB. But Latimer's a no-risk shot at the end of your draft with plenty of physical ability.

The Broncos remain happy with 2nd-year WR Cody Latimer, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold, but HC Gary Kubiak would like to see a bit more over the final 2 preseason weeks. "You just want to see him making plays," Kubiak said this week. "He's a hard worker. He does the right thing. He's in the right place, but it's time for him to start making plays on the ball, coming up with big plays. The good news with him is he has worked as basically a starter from OTAs through [training] camp and everything. Everything's in place for Cody to grow up and have a big year. I like the way he works, [he] just needs to keep coming." Emmanuel Sanders' hamstring issues have afforded extra starter reps and present potential opportunity if they recur. We'll be quite interested to see if Latimer can step up. He's an intriguing shot to take in the double-digit rounds of your fantasy football draft.
