Williams coming off PUP | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Chargers will be activating rookie WR Mike Williams from the PUP and adding him to the 53-man roster. That's a surprising move after Williams spent the summer dealing with a back injury. He seemed a strong candidate to open the regular season on the PUP. This decision signals that Chargers coaches expect the 1st-round pick to be ready to contribute within the season's 1st quarter. We'd still be wary of expecting any fantasy value from Williams, but the added pass-catching talent can only help Philip Rivers.

Recent Shark Bites

Chargers WRs Mike Williams (back) and Travis Benjamin (hip) are both active for today’s game against the Broncos. Williams is an upside WR3 play with CB Chris Harris likely to shadow WR Keenan Allen.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) is expected to play today against the Broncos. Williams returned to a full practice Friday after limited workouts the previous 2 days, which certainly seemed to put him on the right track. There will be just 3 more games after his 4:05 ET kickoff in case you need a fill-in, though.

Chargers WRs Mike Williams (back) and Travis Benjamin (hip) are listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Broncos. They both put in full practices on Friday, so we’re expecting them to play. Williams has intriguing upside with CB Chris Harris likely to shadow WR Keenan Allen on Sunday.

Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He was sidelined all last week before missing the game against Miami. It looks like Williams has a shot to return for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. WR Travis Benjamin (hip) was also limited Wednesday. We'll get another update on both guys tomorrow.

Chargers WRs Mike Williams (back) is out for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. We haven’t heard any details on the back injury or how much longer Williams will be sidelined. WR Travis Benjamin (hip) is listed as doubtful for Week 4, so it looks like Dontrelle Inman will operate as Los Angeles’ #2 WR on Sunday. The juicy matchup makes him a WR4 or flex consideration.
