The Saints signed WR Michael Floyd on Tuesday. This would have been big fantasy news a few years ago. Now it's barely worth mentioning. Floyd has totaled just 47 catches across the past 2 seasons, including 10 with the Vikings last year. He'll battle for the #5 WR spot in New Orleans behind Michael Thomas, Cameron Meredith, Ted Ginn and Tre'Quan Smith. Even if he wins that spot, Floyd would need a couple of injuries ahead of him on the depth chart to have a shot at fantasy relevance.
Vikings insider Ben Goessling expects WR Michael Floyd to have a "sizable role" this year. That, of course, would be after he serves his 4-game suspension to open the season. Floyd got reps with the 1st-team offense this past week with Laquon Treadwell sidelined with a minor injury. “[He’s looked] pretty dang good,” HC Mike Zimmer said. “He’s made probably the most contested of anybody in the camp. He’s a big, physical body, which helps in the run game, and I think he’s done a nice job in the routes. Some of the routes, he’s a little faster than he looks.” There's some opportunity in Minnesota behind WR Stefon Diggs, but that suspension makes Floyd not worth drafting. We'll see if he emerges as a waiver-wire target in Week 5 and beyond.
Vikings WR Michael Floyd has been suspended 4 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He was popped for DUI in December and then violated the terms of his house arrest when he tested positive for alcohol in June. We'll see whether Minnesota opts to hang on to him, but Floyd has dropped clear off the redraft radar. Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Laquon Treadwell will open the season as the Vikings' top 3 WRs.
Vikings WR Michael Floyd was sentenced to 1 day in jail for violating terms of his probation. He reportedly failed 5 alcohol tests over a 2-day span in June -- after being arrested for DUI back in December. The Vikings are sticking by Floyd, though. "We believe Michael will be a productive member of the organization, both on and off the field," GM Rick Spielman said in a statement. "... We expect him to be with the team at the start of training camp in Mankato when the players report on July 26." Floyd is likely looking at a suspension from the league and is still off the fantasy radar for now.
Vikings WR Michael Floyd tested positive for alcohol last week, according to TMZ Sports. Floyd, of course, is under house arrest and not allowed to drink after his December DUI arrest. He could now face jail time for the violation. We'll see whether the Vikings decide to hang on to him.
The Vikings signed WR Michael Floyd to a 1-year deal worth $1.5 million. He can reach $6 million total with incentives, per ESPN. Floyd completely tanked on the field in 2016 and was cut from the Cardinals after he was arrested in December for DUI. The 27-year-old ended up serving jail time, and it’s quite possible he’ll receive further discipline from the league. Floyd’s also currently under house arrest and won’t be able to join the Vikings until after June minicamps. In Minnesota, he’ll battle Adam Thielen and Laquon Treadwell for snaps behind #1 Stefon Diggs. The Vikings just drafted a pair of WRs, too (Rodney Adams and Stacy Coley).
