The Patriots are releasing LB Kyle Van Noy, according to multiple reports. It marks the 2nd straight year that Van Noy has been dumped in the middle of a multi-year contract. The Dolphins cut him last offseason. Van Noy will turn 31 later this month. He remains productive enough to get another shot elsewhere. Just don't expect Van Noy to become more than a sporadic fantasy producer.

The Patriots have ruled OLB Kyle Van Noy out for Sunday's game against the Jets with a throat injury. We haven't seen any other details on his issue, so we'll see where this goes. Fortunately for fantasy players, Van Noy isn't a strong IDP option even when available.

The Patriots are bringing back LB Kyle Van Noy on a 2-year deal worth "up to" $13.2 million, according to NFL Network's Mike Garofolo. Van Noy spent 3 full seasons and part of 2016 with the Patriots before signing with Miami last offseason. He delivered a career-high 6.5 sacks his last year in New England (2019). We'll see how all the roles settle out in an LB corps that differs significantly from that one. Van Noy has generally not been a high-level IDP option, though. Don't expect that to change in his age-30 season.

Van Noy progressed to 3 limited practices this week after getting on the field just once last week, so he's clearly at least closer to being ready. We'll check his status Sunday morning. LB Elandon Roberts (chest) is also questionable after missing last week's game. He looks unlikely to play. The absence of either would raise the IDP floor for Miami LB Jerome Baker.
