ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals and WR Larry Fitzgerald are close to a new deal that would allow Fitz to finish his career in Arizona.  The 2 sides have been working on a contract restructure for a while.  Fitz turns 32 in August and has shown clear signs of decline the past few years.  He hasn't reached 1,000 yards since 2011 and scored a career-low 2 TDs this past season.  His 63 catches and 784 yards were his worst marks since his 2004 rookie campaign.  He still has value as a possession receiver, though, with some of the best hands in the game.  A healthy QB Carson Palmer would make Fitzgerald a low-upside WR3 in 2015 fantasy football drafts.  His return will make it tougher for WRs Michael Floyd and John Brown to break out.

Update: ProFootballTalk.com reports that this deal is done.  Fitzgerald's restructured contract saves Arizona nearly $13 million against the 2015 salary cap.  In return, Fitz will receive $11 million guaranteed in both of the next 2 years.  He'll be 34 when those guarantees run out.

On Friday, WR Larry Fitzgerald spoke about his NFL future on SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio. “I just don’t have the urge to play right now,” Fitz said. “I don’t know how I’ll feel in September, October, November moving forward, but as of today I just don’t have the urge.” Currently a free agent, the 38-year-old was always believed to be leaning toward retirement. If that holds up, he'll retire with 1,432 career catches — 2nd most all-time.

NFL executives expect WR Larry Fitzgerald to retire at some point prior to the 2021 season, according to The Athletic's Mike Sando. Fitz has so far been hush-hush about his plans. He turns 38 in August and mustered just 7.6 yards per catch on 54 grabs last year. We've been anticipating this news: Fitzgerald isn't even in our 2021 WR rankings.

With Christian Kirk already on the COVID list, that would likely elevate Andy Isabella to the #3 WR spot behind DeAndre Hopkins and KeeSean Johnson. Isabella has been a healthy scratch the past 3 weeks. Arizona already gets a tough matchup vs. the Rams defense. Losing 2 of his normal top 3 WRs certainly doesn't help QB Kyler Murray.

Fitz has been a non-factor in fantasy this year, averaging 4.3 catches and 34 yards per game with 0 TDs.
