The Bills and QB Tyrod Taylor have agreed to a restructured contract, the team announced on Wednesday. No word yet on the terms of the deal. The Bills had seemingly been going back and forth over the past couple of months on whether to retain Taylor, with a recent report surfacing that the front office wanted to let him go and the coaching staff wanted to keep him. So it looks like HC Sean McDermott won out here. While Taylor's accuracy comes and goes (62.6% completion rate over the past 2 seasons), he takes care of the ball (just 12 INTs over the last 2 seasons) and threatens defenses on the ground. He's posted back-to-back top 14 finishes in fantasy points per game and is a good bet for similar production in 2017.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Chargers "are not looking to sign a veteran QB, as they move forward with Tyrod Taylor." We'll see if that holds true, given that free agency just opened. We'll also see whether the team goes QB in Round 1 of the draft. Taylor, though, spent 3 years starting for the Bills and opened 2018 as Cleveland's starter before giving way to Baker Mayfield. In his last full starting season -- 2017 -- Taylor graded out 10th among passers, according to Pro Football Focus. He would bring a higher fantasy ceiling than 2019 Philip Rivers provided, primarily because of Taylor's rushing.
QB Tyrod Taylor has inked a 2-year deal with the Chargers. He'll serve as a strong backup to QB Philip Rivers but obviously holds no value in 2019 fantasy football drafts. Taylor will be 31 when this contract expires.
Browns QB Tyrod Taylor left in the 2nd quarter Thursday night’s game against the Jets with a concussion. He has been ruled out and will need to pass through the league protocol before returning. Rookie Baker Mayfield immediately sparked a pass offense that has been struggling under Taylor. This might just remain his job going forward
Browns QB Tyrod Taylor dislocated his left pinkie in Thursday night's preseason game against the Eagles, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That's Taylor's non-throwing hand. And he returned to the meaningless game. We're not expecting this to be an issue by the time Week 1 rolls around but will keep an eye on Taylor.
Browns QB Tyrod Taylor got his left wrist bent back awkwardly in the 1st quarter of Thursday night's preseason game against the Eagles. He quickly headed back to the locker room with trainers. We'll look for an update on Taylor's status. His absence would leave 1st overall pick Baker Mayfield as Cleveland's starting QB.
Update: Taylor returned to the game in the 2nd quarter.
