The Jets have chosen Chandler Catanzaro as their kicker over Ross Martin. ESPN's Rich Cimini called it a surprise move after Catanzaro "wasn't even close" to matching Martin's FG kicking on the practice field. The competition was closer in preseason game action, but Cimini says the real difference was that Jets coaches were concerned about Martin's distance and hang time on kickoffs. This all makes Catanzaro seem less than a safe bet to stick around all season. Of course, the kicker for the offensively challenged Jets isn't likely to be attractive in fantasy anyway.
The Giants released K Chandler Catanzaro, who lasted just 3 weeks on the roster. That leaves the starting job to newly signed K Graham Gano for now. We'd still avoid the situation in fantasy drafts.
The Giants signed K Chandler Catanzaro. He's atop the depth chart for now, but the G-Men could certainly add competition. Catanzaro sports a career 83.8% FG conversion rate and was out of the league last year. Look elsewhere in your fantasy draft.
Jets K Chandler Catanzaro announced his retirement on Sunday. The 28-year-old had reportedly been struggling in training camp and missed 2 XPs in the preseason opener. The Jets have signed K Taylor Bertolet to replace Catanzaro. Bertolet spent last summer with the Jets, connecting on all 4 of his FG attempts and 3 of 4 XPs in preseason action before getting cut prior to Week 1. Bertolet has yet to attempt a regular-season kick as a pro.
K Chandler Catanzaro has inked a deal with the Jets. He spent 2017 with New York, connecting on 83.3% of his FG attempts. Catanzaro struggled with the Bucs last year, missing 4 FGs and 4 XPs in 9 games before getting cut. He bounced back with the Panthers, though, converting all 5 of his FG attempts and 7 of 8 XPs. Catanzaro could be a fantasy spot-start option in 2019 with the Jets offense capable of taking a step forward.
The Buccaneers have released K Chandler Catanzaro. The veteran missed FG attempts from 30 and 48 yards out in Sunday's loss to Washington. For the season, he's 11-of-15 on FG tries and has missed 4 extra-point attempts. We'll see who the Bucs tap to replace him.
