Redskins RB Samaje Perine returned for Thursday night's preseason finale after spraining his ankle in the 2nd exhibition. He rotated in with RB Rob Kelley and finished with 7 carries for 30 yards. (Kelley carried 11 times for 49 yards.) Perine figures to open the season 4th on Washington's depth chart behind Kelley, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson. There's a chance he steps into a significant role at some point this year, but he's not worth a roster spot right now.
Bengals RB Samaje Perine has been activated from the COVID list. He'll be back for Sunday's game against the Ravens to give lead back Joe Mixon a few breathers.
The Bengals have placed RB Samaje Perine on the COVID list. His specific status isn't yet clear, but he at least looks very iffy for Week 6. Perine isn't much of a standalone fantasy option when Joe Mixon is healthy, but he did eat up 11 carries (for 59 yards) and catch 4 balls for 24 yards and a TD in Sunday's loss to the Packers. Perine played more than 3 times as many snaps as Mixon in that game and beat him in rushing attempts and targets. As long as Mixon avoids any setback with his sprained ankle, we'd assume more work for the starter in this Sunday's visit to Detroit. If Perine is out, then Chris Evans should see some involvment. We wouldn't expect him to be an option for fantasy football lineups, though.
Redskins RB Samaje Perine is "expected to miss some time" with his sprained ankle, NFL Network's Mike Garofolo reports. "Likely a week at least." That's a pretty vague timeline, but it sounds like Perine probably won't be available for Washington's 3rd preseason game. That'll give RB Rob Kelley a shot to lock up the Week 1 starting job. Kelley is worth a look in the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts. Perine is hardly draftable right now.
Redskins RB Samaje Perine injured his left ankle on his 1st carry of Thursday night's preseason game against the Jets. That came after RB Rob Kelley ran with QB Alex Smith and the 1st-team offense. So Perine remains behind Kelley on the depth chart and is now hurt. We'll see how long he's sidelined, but he can't afford to miss much time if he wants to pass Kelley by Week 1.
Redskins RB Samaje Perine injured his ankle early in Sunday's finale against the Giants and will not return. He finishes his rookie season with just 3.4 yards per carry on 175 attempts. Perine will need to earn a role in Washington's 2018 backfield this offseason.
