Shark Bites

The Athletic's Nate Taylor believes Darrel Williams will enter the season as the Chiefs' #2 RB. Williams has reportedly been splitting 1st-team reps with rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire and showing well in all aspects. “He’s done a hell of a job,” OC Eric Bieniemy said. “He’s smart, he can run it, he does a great job of picking up the blitz, and he’s also good in the pass game, as far as catching passes out on the perimeter.” Williams has mustered just 3.4 yards per carry on 54 attempts in Kansas City over the past 2 seasons -- although he's averaged a nice 10.8 yards on 18 receptions. We're ultimately still expecting a committee backfield with Williams, DeAndre Washington and potentially Darwin Thompson if Edwards-Helaire misses time. So we're not going out of our way to draft any of these Chiefs backups. But Williams is worth a look in super deep fantasy leagues.

Recent Shark Bites

The Cardinals on Wednesday place RB Darrel Williams on with a hip injury. It was a knee issue that previously cost Williams game time and rendered him questionable for last week's contest. His absence only solidifies Eno Benjamin as #2 to James Conner, who put in a limited Wednesday practice (ribs).

Cardinals RB Darrel Williams (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Vikings. It’ll be his first action since Week 5. Williams figures to play behind RB Eno Benjamin – but his return is a slight ding to Benjamin’s Week 8 fantasy outlook.

Cardinals RB Darrel Williams will miss at least this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks with a sprained knee, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. RB James Conner's status for that one is uncertain after he hurt his ribs last week. RB Jonathan Ward (hamstring) is heading to IR, leaving Eno Benjamin and Keaontay Ingram as the healthy RBs on Arizona's active roster. The Cardinals signed Corey Clement and Ty'Son Williams to the practice squad on Tuesday. We'll track this situation over the next few days, but Benjamin has a shot to be a nice Week 6 fantasy play if Conner can't go.

Cardinals RB Darrel Williams is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Eagles with a knee injury. RB James Conner left earlier with a rib injury, leaving the backfield to RB Eno Benjamin.

Cardinals RBs Darrel Williams and Eno Benjamin each logged 8 carries in Sunday's win over the Raiders, with James Conner left early with an ankle injury. They also split pass routes near-evenly, with Williams running 24 vs. Benjamin's 22. It was Benjamin edging Williams by a target. Conner's injury is not expected to be serious, so we'll see whether he misses any further game time. If/when he does, expect a similar work split for Arizona's reserves.
