Akers active

Rams HC Sean McVay called Cam Akers a "3-down back" and a "very special player" on Thursday. The Rams already proved willing to give Akers a big workload on the ground last year, handing it to him 18+ times in 5 of their last 6 games. He totaled just 14 targets over that span, but it sounds like he's in for an increased role in the passing game. Akers looks like a RB1 heading into 2021 fantasy drafts.

Rams RB Cam Akers (ankle) remains a game-time decision for today's tilt with the Rams, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Akers probably isn't anywhere close to 100% after suffering a high-ankle sprain just 2 weeks ago, but he might push through it for this win-and-in game. The issue is that we won't find out whether he's active until 3 pm ET today. Akers will be a shaky fantasy play if active, but his presence would obviously put a major dent in RB Malcolm Brown's projection.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Akers is "likely to try to play."

Rams RBs Cam Akers (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Cardinals. He only got in a limited practice on Friday, but it sounds like he’ll be a game-time decision for this win-and-in game for the Rams. RB Darrell Henderson (ankle) is out, so it’ll be RB Malcolm Brown in a workhorse role if Akers can’t go.

Rams RB Cam Akers has a high-ankle sprain, HC Sean McVay said Monday. The rookie was surprisingly able to play through it in the loss to the Jets but will miss at least Week 16 vs. the Seahawks, McVay said. We wouldn't bet on him playing in Week 17, either, considering the injury. Akers' absence figures to put RB Darrell Henderson back in the lead ball-carrying role, with RB Malcolm Brown also taking on an expanded role.

Rams RB Cam Akers suffered an ankle injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Jets and is officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update.
